These ads, while some are very funny, are just plain childish. I mean, Apple might as well have a 5 year old stand in the center of the screen and just say, "Windows is a Doodie head! *raspberry*". It would be the same childish humor and save them some money too.

[citation][nom]Yoder54[/nom]Say what? I do not know of one Mac app that will run on a Windows machine. But, I can run all of the Windows apps I want on my Mac with Boot Camp.[/citation]

Yup.. Windows apps running on Mac, but no OSX on PC.. you really made a poor choice of an example..

[citation][nom]smlong[/nom]Thank you for pointing out what everyone already knows, smack-tard.[/citation]
You're welcome wintard. Just remember to praise NeXt also next time...
or did it got stuck in your throat?

[citation][nom]EUYTRDD[/nom]Hey you cheap PC morons! You will never ever have enough money to buy decent computer with superb OS, you suckers. So, it's always easier to shit about something you can't have. Better shut your fucking mouth up and until you earn some money to buy decent OS and computer that does not require antiviruses and all that shit you are running on your cans, cover your face with your ears and crawl back to your sad hole.If you hate Macs and OS X so much, then why at least 70% of you are desperately trying to run hacked OS X on your PCs? C'mon... you lost this war years ago. Who is using PCs in design world any more ? NO ONE, because PCs are for games and so they can fuck you with all those viruses, trojans and malware.[/citation]
Wow a mac fanboy here, This is completely nonsense. I don't hate macs, but what about program compatibility, what are you going to do about it? And where did you get that nonsense about pc games can screw computers? It doesn't make any sense at all. Have you build computers before? Windows is for pros, not idiots. Macs are use for people surfing webs, documents, enjoying movies.

Please don't call PC guys morons.

[citation][nom]abdikarim[/nom]It's pretty obvious that Tomshardware readers are mostly PC/Windows lovers. And it's not a surprise that almost all the comments made were for Windows. I've been a PC/Windows users ever since the 80286 era, and I've had my Macbook Pro for almost a year now. My Mac Leopard OS never let me down, never had to reinstall, never crashed, never had viruses, etc.. and I'm a travelling photographer so come cold, hot, wet, climate - still my trusty Macbook never failed me. I never imagine a Windows laptop give that robustness to me. I still have my old PC, running XP Pro, let's see what 7 has to offer.[/citation]

You raise some good points, but I must add that I have been running the same install of XP Pro SP3 for 18 months now with no problems. I just defrag once a month and virus scan each week.

Also if you're looking for a robust laptop there's always the Panasonic Toughbooks (as used by most of the US defence forces and government agencies).

What Microsoft needs to do at this point is exactly what they're doing now; making better products and avoiding talking down Apple. That makes them look like the "bigger man".

What Apple should be doing is trying to get customers to focus on their good points instead of trying to make themselves look good by talking smack about Microsoft.

The reason I don't use Apple products is because I don't want to be associated with the Apple company and the image it projects. It's not really a question of value or fanboyism, but association. I just don't want to support nor be seen as someone who supports Apple's business practices.

Well, let's see. Which would you rather do? Spend $30 on an OS upgrade for a $2000 computer or $100 to upgrade a $1000 computer? Actually, with the Family Pack, it will be substantially less.

And hardware? Go to the online Apple Store and price the 8 GB memory upgrade for a Macbook Pro - 1200 freakin' dollars!

No one really needs nor wants mac apps. Your argument is ridiculous. There are so many app out there for people to do video most people don't need a $300-$600 app for video but the do have them for PC also.

Also your comment This is a good example of disinformation. I know a lot of Mac owners who are very savvy when it comes to tech. Generalizations like yours are just ignorant.

This is BS I am not miss informed and I am so sick of people trying to defend them selves by saying "Generalizations" it's true for Windows and Mac computers that most are not very savvy. If they were all very savvy, they would be running linux and windows apps with wine. Generalizations are ways of making observations and collecting statistics. So get over it and accept it. People that buy macs don't know much about computers including you! Especially those that say macs are impervious to viruses.

and your pathetic comment "Do you build your own motor vehicles, house, and make your own clothes?" shows your lack of knowledge and frustration even further. You know I am referring to computers. Sorry you own a mac and can't deal with it, but one day you will get over it.

The video left me with two impressions:

1. Apple ads are cynical, depressing and pessimistic. Microsoft ads are colorful and happy. I like happy.

2. It's obvious the ads do nothing to persuade PC users to switch to a Mac. Instead it annoys or pisses them off by ridiculing them for their choice of computer and OS. I know Apple is doing well, but I think they would do even better if they stopped these ridiculous ads.

When I watch an ad, I want to learn about the merits of the product being advertised, but Apple ads only ever talk about Windows. I already have Windows and use it every day. I know about its advantages and problems. I have however almost never used OSX.

Funny ad. I wont lie. You know whats even funnier? Coming from the ones that superchanrge the same shit and have not by the slightest chance the software compatible for their OS. When all i want from a PC is to do 3D design and get on an ichat, not only wont think about it but I still wont spend a dime for Apple. When both Apple and Sony learn to respect the consumer, then I will laugh some more on their side against MS etc. No problem at all. Till then they should just do something useful ( like making the new OS new!? ) instead of acting like kids at school and who will talk shit about the other better.

iDO nothing new
iDo NOT have options for you
iDO and will overcharge you
iDo ignore the complained consumer
yet...
iDo have a pretty big piehole ( dont wanna be rude.. )

You make little sense. Do you proofread before posting?

Your comment that nobody wants any Mac apps is false. Look at the history of computers and start with the early applications that were designed initially for Apple's/Mac's and are now ported for Windows. Some of the most notables are: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and VisiCalc,.Then there are some of the newer apps: Studio Logic, GarageBand, and Final Cut Pro. Wish I had a dollar for ever time I have am asked if there is a Windows version of GarageBand. Then you have Quicktime, you know, that application with the code that MS loved so much that they actually stole the code and settled in litigation. Once again, your claim is baseless so what else is new?

You twist what was said, and are now spinning. I did not say "all" or "a lot" of Mac owners...I said "a lot of Mac owners that I know" are tech savvy. Mind you, I know just a few Mac owners, but enough to discredit your comment that people buy Mac's because of their lack of knowledge about computers. Again, you made an incorrect generalization based on no facts what so ever. You say that generalizations are a way of making observations...true. But, you then have to make your hypothesis, and put it to the empirical test which includes collecting data, that you then apply your statistical tools to. So tell me...where is your data about Mac users? An observation, delusion, or hallucination is not a fact.

You say: "People that buy macs don't know much about computers including you!" Now this is disinformation. FYI: I have a Master's in Applied Math, and a BS in Neuropsychology where I studied computer models of the human brain. I have built many a PC, done the Boolean algebra and digital circuit thing, build my own electrical effects components, programmed robots used in the growth of Ga-Ar ingots, build my own Win boxes, have worked as a software engineer and network engineer. Now I just teach computer science and multimedia. Your comment is something I would expect to hear a kid say out on the playground. You only discredit yourself by throwing such puerile comments out.

My asking you if you build your own cars does not show any frustration or any lack of knowledge on my part. You need to learn to say what you mean and quit making assumptions that everyone knows what you are talking about. I merely made the comment to illustrate the absurdity of your remark, and was busting your chops. Set yourself up, and you might get pushed over.

There is no need to feel sorry for me about my owning some Mac's. You saying that I can't deal with it is more disinformation...you are assuming that I am not happy with what I own and that is not the case. Why do you falsely assume that I would be unhappy with something I purchase? This is ignorance and a myopic assumption on your part. You sound very angry and frustrated. Are you? Don't worry...be happy.

[citation][nom]etichi[/nom]ravewulf:Apple isn't going away anytime soon just as Windows is going no where. I guess it is easier in a simpletons mind to think that way.[/citation]
I never said, or implied, that Apple was going away. I only commented that to go back all the way to Windows 2, not list any specific criticisms, and present the ad in the attitude that they used, they must be concerned that Win7 could get people to stick with Windows and like it or convert to Windows from a Mac.

Another Gripe. Stop calling Apple lovers LIBERAL. I am LIBERAL and can't stand APPLE. 3.5% world market share and 10% U.S. market share is not a lot, but still represents a completely diverse group of people except for the lower income bracket because obviously one must have some money to burn to buy Apple. So the liberalization of Apple is a junk stereotype. Where does this come from? Because Steve Jobs is LIBERAL. Gates is LIBERAL too. If you want to bash liberals, go have fun at political message board perhaps at Ann Coulter's website, but you shouldn't be addressing that here.

Apple is of course grabbing at strings. No major problems with Windows 7 to boot, just minor glitches like everything else.

Its going to be interesting to watch Apple try to find something to use in their commercials.

Maybe they will go back to insulting PC hardware? Ooops...... can't do that since they use Intel now.... Maybe they will still focus on Vista? Huh.... not useful since Windows 7 is here and most people will either upgrade from Vista to 7 or leapfrog it from XP to 7.

Oh I know!!!! They wont have anything. And of course as always, Apple will cover up anything that goes wrong with a Mac. Like the monitors that would go bad and when people complained on the forums the posts/threads got deleted......

This is turning into worse mud-throwing than most other poltical campaign ads I've seen. Both sides have had their mud-throwing campaigns: Microsoft with the "I'm a PC" stuff (I'm glad to see they've stopped that btw) and pretty much all of Apple's stuff they've come out with. I'm OK with advertisements that actually advertise the product, but I mean COME ON Apple, you're honestly making me want to take the few Apple products I have and throw them at you and demand my money back with this pointless slandering of a product that quite honestly is a good product. (I know from experience as I have the RTM running on both of my computers).

This is great! Finally something laughablee. :-D The windows ad isn't bad, it's just a bit boring.
Just for record - I'm no mac guy. I would be bored to hell with an apple (PC or fruit - it' the same 😛). Couldn't do half of the things I'm dooing everyday (or my work). I owned most win-win systems since win 3.0 (my, and MS-DOS, have you forgot that one :-D ). Even Vista. I have no free comp for the seven'th so that must wait. Using linux as an alternative (because of unlimited posibilities).
I'm not quite sure if this is a pro win or pro mac ad. Somehow the 95' guy persuaded me. :-D

[citation][nom]Nik_I[/nom]I love how apple goes and attackes every version of windows ever made, like they've always put out consistently good operating systems. I'm sorry, but OS9 was way behind the times, and was quite buggy. Apple really needs to stop with these sad attempts.[/citation]
