Hey

I'm going to help a friend upgrading his Motherboard , CPU and Ram.
We are going to do a clean install, but he doensn't have internet at his new place so he wants to keep a lot of games.
Would A clean install of windows 10 with connecting his old SSD afterwards with all his games work?

Thanks for helping me out.

Kind regards

Solution
Most of the times afaik yes.

Just download a fresh install of Origin or Steam or ..... and when installed it will ask where to install latest games (what folder, will suggest C\:"games folder") but choose the folder on the other ssd instead by navigating to it.

Most of these games libraries will recognize the installed game(s) and you should be fine.

Don't know how having no internet will affect this proces.

Guess he is using his phone as proxyserver.

Might need internet since most libraries wil ask you to download the games you have and you need to download the apps, but afaik when trying (think even with the slow internet) will the game library recognize the game in the folder you chose on the other ssd and within moments should it be "installed" again.

Make sure you have the latest drivers on a usb stick so that for the motherboard you can install those first after the clean install (start with chipset drivers). And after that install the latest drivers for the gpu from a usb stick.
