New PC Build Powers on then off after half a second.

I tried using a i5 8600k cpu in a z270 mobo. So somehow I ended up buying z270 instead of a z370 without thinking. It fits in of course but I know it will not boot. The question is did I just destroy the mobo or cpu? I do not have a z370 on head to see if it will still work so I am worried I caused a problem...

The pc would just power on then immediately off.

No, just by a Z370 MB.

Your mother board and CPU combination is incompatible.

It is unlikely that you have damaged either one.

Sell the old motherboard and buy a new one.
