Question New Western Digital internal hard drive crashes everything it touches

A friend and I were installing a new hard drive into his computer, and once we started installing games (after formatting it) every platform that wants to install a game onto the new volume crashes. We've managed to install destiny 2, which works, but installing Valorant only causes riot games to crash, GTA V just crashes as soon as it starts up, and Steam keeps crashing as he's trying to download Elden Ring

He's never faced any issues like this prior to installing the drive.

FULL hardware specifications including CPU, motherboard, memory kit, power supply EXACT model, and all connected drives?

Did you do a clean install of Windows, or a clone to the new drive, or this a secondary drive?
