Last night I swapped out a few parts, most notably my GPU and CPU (I went from a 1070 TI to a 3080 and from a R5 1600 to a 5600 X). I also added in an 850W PSU but I suspect that doesn’t have anything to do with this.

My motherboard is a Tomahawk B350, which I just updated to the BIOS that should work with the 5600X. Everything looked fine on the install, but when powering up there is no display and the BOOT LED turns red.

I’ve tried plugging my HDMI into my motherboard instead of my GPU and still nothing. My GPU is lighting up and the fans are spinning when I power up the PC, so it seems fine.

Any ideas what the problem could be? I’ve seen a recommendation to change my BIOS settings from CSM to UEFI.

What motherboard is it? I know ASRock had a beta bios which accepted 5 series on 3 boards but was eventually pulled. Im not sure of the circumstances now with them or other partners.
MSI B350 Tomahawk. From what I’ve seen online, the newest beta bios works with 5000 series CPU

From my experience in this problem is pulling out the cmos battery from 10 minutes to 4 hours, it worked when upgrading from a 1050ti to 1660 super

What's your problem exactly? Being that this is your first post, might want to elaborate. 10 minutes let alone 4hrs is a long time to reset cmos. That's not right. It takes half a minute at most, that's if system has been standing without power until caps drain which takes roughly another half minute after psu has been switched off. If try clear cmos while there's still remaining power then i could see why you would think that.

You think it’s better to try the GPU first? I would have thought the issue was more related to the CPU since it’s the Boot light that is turning red during startup

Boot led is related to boot drive, so yeah see if it boots with 1070ti since csm is enabled. If it boots then disable csm so you get a display with the new gpu and reinstall windows.
