Hi my girlfriend recently purchased a used pc. The specs are
Cpu: i5 4460
Gpu: gtx 780ti
Mobo: asrock h81 pro btc r2.0
Ram: 8gb crucial ballistic sport ddr3-1200
Storage: Kingston hyperx 3k 120gb ssd
Case: Corsair carbide spec-05
Psu: evga 600w 80 plus bronze

She purchased the pc almost exclusively to play Apex Legends. She wasn’t expecting it to run spectacularly but it does seem to be underperforming. Even on lowest settings it can barely run the game at 60 FPS, and that’s with everything looking like a water painting. I’m not sure if another stick of ram would help or maybe it needs a new processor? In my pc I have a gtx 1060 6gb which is supposed to be comparable with her 780 ti so i know the graphics card isn’t the problem. Any opinions or suggestion would be very helpful thank you.

I play it with my 1060 6gb and it runs great, so I was thinking it’s either the cpu or the ram

While a 780TI benches in the same ballpark as a 1060, that's mostly in theory. Some newer titles simply do not 'play nice' with older GPUs for a variety of reasons.
To test this, switch GPUs (uninstalling and reinstalling drivers) with your girlfriend. If your system performs similarly with the 780TI and there's no change on her end with a 1060, then we can rule that out.

Are you monitoring CPU/GPU/RAM utilization in-game? Monitoring temperatures?

first of all you cant compare 780ti with 1060, only 970-980-ti are comparable with 1060 if they are overclocked maybe 1070... nvm about gpu, im guessing its the game...

Apex is fairly CPU intensive. The i5-4460 should be capable enough, but ~60FPS is not too surprising, assuming it can achieve the same on High settings?

I have heard that Apex doesn't particularly 'play nice' with older GPUs.

Well, you kinda/sorta can. A 780TI = 970 = 1060 (+/-) from a strict benchmark standpoint. Does not necessarily mean they'll perform the same in specific titles, but on raw horsepower, synthetics etc, they're in the same general ballpark.

As for a 980TI, that's within about 10% of a 1070, so substantially stronger than a 1060.
