I seem to have lost most of the icons from my notification area in Windows
XP Home Sp2, the processes are still running according to taskmanager but I
can't open them. I have tried unchecking the hide inactive icons from the
taskbar properties but to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks in advice

Right-click a blank spot on Taskbar, then click on "Lock Taskbar" to UNlock
it if checkmarked. Then right-click a blank area in the system tray
(notification area), then select "Customize Notifications...". In the
dialog box, click on items you want to show; a shaded area or box appears
around the current status with a down-pointing triangle to the right. Click
on triangle to get three choices, click on choice wanted. Apply and OK to
exit. Repeat first step to re-lock the Taskbar if so desired.

Go to Taurarian's suggested links if this fails to restore.
