No, it doesn't.
When you look back in history, you can see that a monopol
is bad for the evolution.
Best example: Microsoft and Intel.
But this is another case.
There are still many other global competitors in the Grfx sector.
First let's look at ATI, still a large global player.
Second MATROX, Grafix boards with very high image quality.
And not to forget.....one of their main buisnesses is video editing in broadcast quality!!
Nvidia should keep running or they will be last in the end.
As 3dfx failed.
You guys don't really read that well do you? Yes, 3dfx stopped making graphics boards, only BOARDS, that means they will go back to 2 years ago like the voodoo's, banshee's. Have other companies make the boards, 3dfx will still make chips.
It would be cool if 3Dfx was bought by Matrox. Why? Simple, becaue they too have been rumored to be working on dual chip boards and have no tile rendering ( or one of it's derivatives) solutions that i know of in the work. But if they buy 3Dfx, they could create two lines of graphic card: one for the corprate stuff and all and another for the gamers in us with gigapixel's tile rendering, sli AND all of their great graphic enhancing techniques such a EMBM.....
There would be three SERIOUS players in the graphic market... I'd like that!
