I'm attempting to install Win98 2nd edition onto an old hard drive that had NT 4.0 workstation on it. I am not able to fdisk the drive using a Win98 startup disk. I can not do anything to any of the partitions.

How can I fdisk this drive? Is there a site where I can download the necessary utilities?

I don't care about losing any data on the NTFS drive, I just want to wipe it clean and set it to FAT 32.

To completly wipe all your partitions without any questions there is a free utility called "delpart" that you can find here under "General tweaking utilities". Use caution where you use it, if i remember correctly it does't give you any choices and no rollback option.

You'll however have to redo your partitions using fdisk afterward.

Hope that helps.

fdisk /mbr at the dos prompt will do it. it works for geting rid of lilo. what it does is format your master boot record and the drive is clead. then fdisk as normal. (nb ntfs is not fat16)
