Having two GTX 760's myself, it's not that sli is unreliable, it's just that not all games are made to have an sli profile, for instance, when I play Titanfall I have to disable sli because I get glaring issues and the colors look all weird and when I look at the top left, my second card is just sitting idle. There are other games that have sli profiles however. But like has been said, this time around I'd rather have a single flagship card than a x60 or x70 card in sli, there are pros and cons, and a good majority of AAA titles do have sli profiles, albeit a lot of the time you have to wait for a driver update from nvidia or the developer to release a patch that supports sli for that particular game.

beat you to it this time 😛 it's part of the update to the op i made this morning. i feel all warm and fuzzy inside now 😀

but yah the numbers are pretty good sounding but i worry if this is not a bit of the old amd style of doing things. pump it full of power and brute force your way through it. those are some pretty high speeds for this to just be a super efficient new design. based on these numbers i wonder how it compares clock for clock with haswell.

These cards are significantly faster than the Maxwell flagship at least in synthetic benchmarks like 3d mark if these early results are real...

And this is where we need to take mountains of salts lol. Some of this supposed leaks could be smoke screen. The real thing could end up very different. Be it in good or bad way. I still remember when some people saw the TDP for firepro version of tonga they said amd finally have maxwell killer in tern of power efficiency. Whay they forgot to factor in was for pro cards it is usual for the power consumption to be low because of low clock than it's gaming variant. Plus for pro cards precision and stability are much more important that pure raw performance. Even some of tesla/quadro (GK110 based) was tune to fit 225w power constraint with passive cooler.

Just waiting around for the twitch.tv event tonight, but I've suddenly lowered my expectations. Faster than a GTX 980 Ti? Sure. Less power? Sure. A few more features? Hopefully. But it's the pricing that will determine the Wow factor. The 1080 has got to also be significantly cheaper than a GTX 980 Ti. I'll still be holding out for the full GP100 chip/GTX 1080 Ti.

I think it is at 6 pm PST

Ah, okay. It's just that countdown page that were counting the hours until it started went to 0 so I assumed it was gonna start. Weird. Probably some mistake on my part though. Thanks. :)

I know that most likely the 1080 is going to have a 256 bit bus width based on rumors.... crossing my fingers for at least 384 bit bus width, that'd put it on par with HBMv1 since the 1080 is gonna have GDDR5X....

yah for some odd reason countdown ended about 20 minutes ago but live event is not until 6 pm PST, so still got a good 7 hours to go before that starts. it'll take a few for me to update the op with the info as i hope nvidia posts some pages to illustrate what they have said and i'll want to link to those if they exist. 😀

we're all waiting now 😀

Is twitch.tv using html5? just thought about that as i do not have flash installed and have never used twitch before. will it still stream with html5 or am i stuck putting that horrid flash player on my pc. and i use firefox by the way since that probably matters.

I'm pretty sure it's HTML5. I haven't seen youtube, Twitch, Vimeo, Netflix etc. use adobe flash in a year or more.

thanks. just kind of hit me i might want to be prepared if i needed it so i can watch the stream.

i'm new to this stuff, do they usually make web pages live during these events. like should i expect geforce.com to have pages for these new cards this evening or not expect them for a day or so? it's 9 pm for me to watch the stream and i don't want to be up all night looking for things that are not there :)

Ansel - The world's first in-game 3D camera, comes free, built in to the drivers. Features super-high resolution, custom filters, and 360 degree coverage. Can be used with VR, non-VR, or on mobile with the app.

For sure.

I do love the fact that you can render 32x 4k resolutions for in game pictures! sweet.
