But, if anandtech, hothardware etc say the eVGA 680i is an amazing board... then the striker extreme is the samething or even better right? as far as I know they are the same thing (without the extras) same chipset and everything.

But they are not the same thing with just some extras, only the same 680i chipset. The board is laid out quite differently.
So no...it does not mean it's same thing or even better. LOL

The reviews are right here... read em both.

Like I said, there will be more reviews, and I've read some by people who are not very happy with their evga boards too.

I never read that webpage! how interesting looks.

But, why if ASUS is one of the most trust board makers their Striker Extreme has a little low score on that table compared with eVGA? a company that so far (that I know) has made 2 boards?

Also, in what ways arent people happy with the 680 of eVGA?

Finally, I just want a motherboard for my C2D dude, I dont really want to start again all over and compare boards etc. I think the ASUS is perfect for me. So I want that one. Thats my decision and no matter how well this board is for overclocking or any other stuff, I just want the last motherboard with great perfomance and stability and I think this ASUS board has everything Im asking for.

Like I said, I know your sold on it. That's fine.

I'll leave you alone! LOL I don't want you to think I'm picking on you.

I do have one question though.... do you ever read other strings even on Tom's?? There have been comments after comments on Tom's about problems with any of these boards. And if you check other motherboard review forums you'll see them there too.

Don't get me wrong, nothing is perfect!! Hell...I'll be ending up with one myself...probably either the regular priced ASUS 680i or the evga. I would like to see what Gigabit is going to put out but I doubt I can wait that long!

I have enjoyed talking with you and don't want you to think I'm some sort of **shole! LOL I'm just trying to show you options and to broaden your view of things! LOL

No dude dont worry Im not thinking bad about you and this is not a fight between us cuz I know u since many pages ago and you have been peacefull 😀

BTW yeah you are right I have to agree with you that boards that have been just released have problems. Some small problems and some big ones but still what can we do? we cant be waiting and letting our components become older and older.

Again, you know how long I have been waiting so I dont think its worth to keep waiting. After all this board is super-upgradable.

Well, I should be getting my samsung drive and e6600 wednesday. I got my memory and hdd today, so I'm getting anxious! I found the e6600 at ClubIT.com for 269.99. So if you haven't gotten one already, go get one! :) Also, as long as the problems the board has (I haven't read on them yet) aren't too excessive, then I don't really care. That's what tech support is for!

Just thought I'd pop back in and say I got my striker in today. It's been a solid month working on this poor old laptop, but tomorrow's finally the day I'll be able to put together the fastest machine I've ever owned.

If you can't tell, I'm am very very pleased and will probably have all sorts of hell trying to get any sleep tonight.

I guess I should add that by today I meant Friday, didn't realize it was this late.

I got the Zalman 9500 LED. It fits socket 775 and others; I also got my arctic silver 5 from work too. This is going to be the longest 4 days of my life!

Yeah, it's the same for me too, I'm getting really anxious! This will be my first computer build, and an extremely fast one at that. I'll probably just stick with 3ghz though, I don't really need much more than that.

I just read the review from Anandtech(sp?) on the eVGA board where they had a e6300 OCed to over 3ghz using a "tweakless" tool. Or something like that. So I'm guessing an e6600 ca go even further. 8) Maybe 3.5ghz? Time will tell...

Yeah, I'm mostly just waiting now. I'll post my review when I get it Wednesday. I'm looking foward to it, and what kind of performance I can squeeze out of the board.

Got my striker extreme yesterday! It is still in the box, killing me just sitting there. Now i got to wait on the rest of my stuff. What do you guys think about this system?

Core 2 Duo 6700
Asus striker extreme motherboard
Corsair dominator 8500c5d (2 gig)
BFG 8800GTX video card

Those are my upgrade parts i got coming. I hope all that stuff works well together. I also went with a new case. I got the coolermaster stacker 830, the black one, rev 2. I dunno but to me, this thing screams sexy. I had a silver one just like it, but this one has area to mount a bigger power supply. 😛

Hope you guys still in search of the striker find one soon. As far as looks go just examing still in the box, i don't regret paying the money for it.
