Do changes to the motherboard system clock affect the operating frequency or other parameters of the PCIe bus on an ICH7 -based system like the Intel BadAxe?

What about the PCI bus?

I don't have the MB yet so I'm just fishing for info in advance. Last time I tried to OC was three years ago and the ulcers from PCI and AGP bus rates screwing everything up still haven't healed yet.

Thanks,

Yes but newer boards allow you to lock down those buses to avoid issues such as hard drive data corruption, etc.

How do you do that. My asus p5nd2 sli deluxe has pci express frequency at 100. anything lower or higher results in clearing cmos. can you tell me how?

Thanks.

Sorry bazza I guess I should have been a bit more detailed. Most enthusiast boards allow you to lock down those buses. Most MicroATX boards aren't meant for overclocking which is why they do not have those options. Also, most (not all, and more SIS than VIA) VIA and SIS chipsets are either meant for budget or office applications, so they're not going to have decent overclocking options either.

@htoonthura, you should consult your manual on how to adjust the PCI-E bus although leaving it set to 100Mhz should be fine. If you're trying to OC the video card, you're better off doing it through software like Rivatuner, Coolbits, etc...
