Good for you. Anytime you can get a chance to read something written by the Founding Fathers, especially if it's less formal stuff where they debate the philosophy behind why they felt their views were so important, I think you will see how incredibly bright and insightful these men were.

I still really recommend at least watching the first in the series of the Judge Napolitano vids I mentioned before on Youtube. He really has VAST Constitutional knowledge, talks in a common sense way, and it helps to impart just how important those rights are as he explains the progression of how we've started letting them all slip away.

@kajabla: Isn't it true that the Founding Fathers gave the People the right to terminate the government if it ever becomes too corrupt. not in the sense of anarchy, but in the sense that everything in the constitution would be wiped clean and the US goes through a major restart with the constitution back to where it was before?

The people have that right regardless of what's in any constitution, but yes, they did. Most people here seem to like the Constitution pretty well as it is, though. Edits would be nice, but I don't think we need a reboot. By "where it was before" do you mean amendment-less?

So that leaves us with no actual institutions of government. What would we replace them all with? Would you have us erase all state and city and town governments, too?

Well, that's an entirely different idea than "erase all but the Bill of Rights."
The 1780s (up to the very end of the decade, when the Constitution actually gained popularity and a final form) were a time of argument and conflict over America's government, and the reigning government was based on the Articles of Confederation, which were nearly useless and didn't actually make the USA a united nation. The Bill of Rights didn't really get off the ground until 1790.
Which of the many 1780s proclamations are you referring to?
Sure, remove the nut jobs. Then you're left with very few politicians 😛
Anyway, who are nut jobs? People who disagree with you? People with minority opinions?

This proves to me 2 things:

1) I need to revisit my US History

2) My political agendas have been corrupted.

Give me time while I go about frolicking through the flowers to gain back my train of thought.

Sorry I'm late on commenting on this "Occupy Wallstreet" board, but Occupy Wallstreet is the stupidest thing I've seen in my lifetime. I haven't been around too long...but this just takes the cake.

A bunch of uneducated, stupid at that, jobless, low lifes who litter and take craps on police cars to get a point across that they cannot realize with their dysfunctional brains isn't being correctly represented.

Wallstreet has nothing to do with the economic inequality. ITs the governments fault. They actually think wallstreet cares about their failures?...do they think they will make a difference?...not just that but wallstreet cannot do anything about it anyway. The protests should be infront of the white house...not private business men. Wallstreet is what drives our economy to make it better. They should be bowing down to the knees of wallstreet investors for keeping this economy alive...the government is who is bringing it down.

The people who have been sitting around for a month protesting are the people who don't have jobs and don't pay taxes...they probably just have nothing better to do then sit around and trash parks.

Occupy Wallstreet protests are disgusting...littering, filth, feces, fornication in public...you name it. I'm not a tea party member, but with all due respect after a tea party protest...everything was pitch clean. Your dealing with two different classes of people. Tea party protests are people who PAY taxes while occupy wallstreet protestors are people who TAKE taxes.

Tea party protestors know that if they mess up the land...their own taxes are going to be cleaning it up while wall street protestors don't care.

You can't take the actions of an uncivilized minority and apply it to an entire political movement. There have been examples of each of those things, yes, but they're not widespread, and they do not define OWS.

Points of the OWS' majority arent widely thought of.
Some points are indeed good ideas, many of which can be found thruout America, both at home, and even in Washington, where both sides agree.

If the minority is the bad ones, and its that important to the majority, they will or would have run this small group out, as it diminshes their true agenda
If they want to be credible, they need to start there, but many are now saying the vast majority that remain are the minority, or those that arent truly representing the OWS' true intentions, and allowing such groups, having such an open tent wont gain the peoples favor, as we see OWS' popularity drop

Now you're doing it too. A couple of anti-Semite jerks showing up at the protests doesn't define the message of the majority. Their neighbors at the gatherings can't stop them from expressing their bigoted opinions, but that doesn't mean that everyone around them shares those views.
They want to radically change the American economy, yes. They're not going for a clean slate; they're going for reforms.

This happens with every group:

Christians-Bunch of Red-neck anti-scientists
Atheists-Bunch of science huggers/Christan haters
Jews-Money grumblers
Democrats-Liberal douchebags
Republicans-Uneducated as*holes
OWS-Anarchists/Anit-Semetic
Tea Party...well...

Anti Semite racists here, communists there, socialists over there, anarchists all over, and theyre trying to make a point?
The majority gets drowned out with all these squeaky wheels, and as I said, shouldnt be allowed in, besides the fornicators, the defecators etc etc

Tea Party- even less educated assholes lol
Same applies, of course, in that it's not true.
I always found the whole idea of "science huggers" being a negative thing kinda ridiculous. Science is supposed to be the most truthful, perfect way of thinking.
^jay if you applied that logic to just about any major political group, you could say the same thing. Republicans, for instance, have all kinds of crazy, racist, anti-semite, drug-addicted people - and they're trying to run a government?
Answer: No, all the ones who *aren't* crazy are, and they have legitimate ideas, just like the non-crazy OWS people.
