9800 GTX+ 55nm refresh for this July looks like it could be very powerful

$229, 512 gddr3 @ 1000 mhz, shader clock /1836/ mhz
the core clock increase is pretty nice and all, but that shader clock increase is going to be a nice jump in performance from the 9800 gtx vanilla - you should be able to overclock the shader clock on the 9800gtx+ even higher than that with good airflow
The 4850 crossfire has some great scores, looks like for a single card the performance is all there and the crossfire gives it an appropriate bump.
Now truthfully, I gotta be honest. I'm not that excited about the 4850 even with these silly price performance comparisons. However I think the 4870 is what we all should really be looking out for, if ATI scaled up the performance appropriately from 4850 to 4870 then the 4870 will be the card worth getting excited about
4850 in crossfire is certainly nice for 400$, but its still not earth shattering performance in comparison to everything else, the 4870 in crossfire however might be; i'm really a lot more interested in what is going to raise the top bar by a high margin next, then price/performance comparisons.
