Hp pavilion G6-2146sl
AMD A6-4400M Dual Core 2.7 GHz + Radeon HD 7520G
4GB DDR3
SSD 240GB

League settings are all on the lowest comfiguration. I get on average 20-30 FPS (or lower). It is unplayable for me.
The funny part is that a couple of years ago I could play LoL on medium settings with decent FPS...now I just can't, even with minimum settings. I understand that games get heavier and more demanding over time + my notebook getting older...but, is there something I can do?
I've tried :
  • Cleaning Fans
  • Drivers upgrade
  • New Thermal paste
As far as I know, I could upgrade the CPU to AMD A8-4500M Quad Core 1.9GHz or AMD A10-4600M Quad Core 2.3GHz.
The first question that comes into my mind is: Would that significantly increse my FPS to atleast 60?
What about upgrading my RAM to 8GB? I've read that it could help with integrated graphic cards.
I'm broke, can't afford a new laptop or fancy things like eGPU.
Please let me know what you think about it.

Uh oh. Yeah its annoying when games move with the times and your laptop can't keep up. I've been there.

Overall, upgrading your cpu, RAM, drivers etc all probably would help, but enough? No, I don't think you'll be able to get the performance you had back with those upgrades. The newer APUs (cpu's with graphics built in by AMD) would be able to manage it easily, but they are barely out, still quite expensive and won't fit in your CPU socket.

If you have any spare connectors in your laptop that carry PCIe lanes you may be able to cheapen the eGPU option. With a spare m.2 slot and a power supply for instance, you may be able to rig up a graphics card, sure, but thats where my knowledge on it ends. Other than that you are stuck needing to upgrade the whole laptop

Nothing you can do
even those a8 and a10 amd processors are weak
also never heard of replacing cpu or gpu in laptops

There eGPU method but you said that you can't afford it

Laptops are limited for only upgrading ram and storage i don't think upgrading to 8 gb of ram will improve fps

im sorry but it is time to upgrade to a new desktop pc or a new laptop keep in mind gaming pcs are cheaper than laptops
but league of legends is not that game that need expensive hardware
a 2nd gen i5 and gtx 750 will do the job

I mean, my cpu is not soldered to the motherboard, so I could technically replace it.
here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03277661.pdf
it lists 3 Processors, so I assumed that I could do it.
Also, the Integrated GPU's would go (A6) Radeon HD 7520G -> (A10) Radeon HD 7660G
https://www.notebookcheck.it/AMD-Radeon-HD-7520G.90225.0.html
https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7660G.69830.0.html

Its seems slightly better but not that much. But I am no expert so... that's why I am asking you guys.
Spending $ 100 (actually $200 because I'd have to ship it from the US and Im in EU) for a "new" but old CPU just for a SLIGHT graphic improvement it's not that worth it, isn't it?

it isn't worth is 200$ you can get a whole 2nd generation system or x58 system

i would suggest getting h61 motherboard and i5 2500 8 gb of ram and a 500w power supply any used case and you can use the hdd in your laptop in the pc

Sorry ... older thread I know.

I maintain a bunch of these types of laptops. The best CPU for them is the A10 5750M (quad ... 2.5 GHz). They can be had on ebay for < $40. Also, in my experience, 4 GB of Ram is very low ... barely enough to run Win10. Despite what may read about max Ram ... I can attest that your G6 can run up to 16 GB of Ram.

I'm not a gamer so I have no idea whether or not maxing out your G6 as above would dramatically improve LeagueofLegends performance ... does it take advantage of quad core?
