Basically, today I had purchased new parts for my pc more or less a brand new pc except for RAM, HDD and PSU. I powered my pc on after building it to notice it was as slow as my old one (parts and everything were fine) except I noticed this also on this new pc and old that my disk was running at 100% tried everything to fix it nothing do I purchased a new one but SSD and plan on starting fresh. Now i will run everything of that new SSD in replacement for old one but do I need to wipe it before hand or is it fine because it is a totally new drive or have I wrecked my motherboard by running an slow HDD. Please help!

It sounds perfectly normal for a disk to run at 100% on a new system until WindowsUpdate installs everything it wants and sorts everything out. This process can take all day.

If the slowest part of a PC is the HDD, then why would you expect changing other parts would make it feel faster? That's like putting 200MPH tires on the family minivan and wondering why it feels just as slow as before.

I would suggest installing Windows to the SSD when the HDD is not attached. After everything is set up, then you can plug in the HDD and format it or whatever you like. The reason is the Windows installer may decide to put the boot files on the HDD instead and then you wouldn't be able to format the HDD or even boot when it's not attached.
