My grandfather served under Patton and said the same thing about a lot of others over there. In the middle of a fight some fellows broke out tea and crumpets or some hard biscuits.
He also hated the Russians.. he was one of the first to meet the Russians in Berlin and almost started shooting them. US hard .308 rifles, Russians had bullwhips and where going after the kids.

My grandfather was ine the résistance.
Just try to say that french people was leaving the battlefield and i'll show you how to decently cook your balls on a bbq.

:)

Course.

But you know the French won a false reputations of surrenders, and i only say it would upset me to hear that about my forefathers.

(it was not meant to be aggressive, sorry if this was the case)

I was thinking.. why give up Joan of Arc to be burned at the stake...

Sweet!!! :)

I Likey!

Tell the wife to stop with the guns already. This is getting to be absurd with these guns already and killings constantly. There are police to protect us and guns are not the answer !

Marv, with all due respect, anyway you look at it, you're either in the gun club or not, nothing you say will change any of our attitudes that own guns. :)

But marv, there are no complete answers.
In Detroit, often 911 calls go unanswered, or may take forever.
People do surveys, the MSM do surveys, they need a survey of criminals as to how it effects their plans in their crimes.
Such as, do they do it knowing the owner/victim is carrying or not?
I know this is leaning forwards in a direction many dont understand, but its the surest way to find out.

When a gangsta fires on another gangsta, its all about cred and rep, and is usually a retaliatory thing.
If its just for money?

Yeah because you can just whip that lanwmower out of your pocket, take the safety off and mow down a heap of bad guys coming through your front door with clubs ...

If they are all wearing safety boots your in trouble though.

Thats why I wear safety boots everywhere ... you can't be too careful ... so I am always on the lookout for guys with a rip cord hanging out of their pocket ... or if they smell a bit like petrol.

Marv, imagine she is at home and someone is trying to break into the house. It probably takes a couple minutes at best to get through a door or window. I have never called to cops to get to my house so I don't know how long it takes for them to respond. In this scenario, I would like her to have a gun with her, locked in another room, with 911 on the phone sending officers. In the event that the person enters the home and the locked room, she has the option to defend her. If the police take 15 minutes to show up, it could be all too late. In this case, I'm supplementing her with the ability to defend herself until the police can arrive. That 5-15 minute window is critical for her safety.

Let's say I'm a criminal. I'm 6', 240lbs and go the gym daily. I have previous experience in sports and most recently a couple years of boxing. I break into grandma's house. I see 98lbs grandma holding a Louisville Slugger. I'm not afraid of that.

Kid calls 911 on his parents for abuse. Dad says to kid, "I have you for 5 minutes until the police get here."

Einstein caricatured this matter as follow:
"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity."

Now, I break in and see 98lbs grandma holding a 9mm handgun, pointing it at me. You know what? I'm a bit worried now. She doesn't have to pull the trigger, I want to get out of there alive.

Marv, I'll sum it up this way.
I would rather my wife have an inanimate object, the gun, sitting in a nightstand safe not killing anyone, than to not have it and leave the possibility of her getting raped without any means to defend herself.

Where we live it's a minimum 30 minute response for Police or Ambulance, a lot can happen in 30 minutes!

Personally I don't really understand having to defend our right to have a gun for personal home defense.

I do not understand the mystical assumption that the Police will be able to protect you in all circumstances, I think living under that umbrella of ignorance may be fine for some, but definitely not for anyone with any type military or security background.

30 miles from where we live a home was broken into, the husband and wife were shot and killed over small amount of cash and some dated electronics, the police did not help them!

My cousins a quarter mile from us have been broken into twice, fist time stole an Xbox, the second time they stole one of their dogs, a toy boxer.

The Xbox was no big deal, the loss of the dog literally killed my cousins, it took months to learn to deal with it.

Luckily those criminals did their dirty when they we not at home!

We used to live in a time in our area that we never even locked the door, but not today!

Times have changed!

Marv, This will really upset you!

Where we live they're pushing a law through that when adopted no state citizen will have to have a permit to carry a gun on their person, as long as they are legal state residents and can own a gun in the first place.

They're deeming it was actually unconstitutional to require the permit in the first place!

Marv, You'd probably be better off avoiding South Carolina if it passes, you'd be as nervous as a long tail cat in a room of rocking chairs!

Its a good thing no one wants to take away your guns, if you need an ar-15 with a 30 round clip to defend yourself then you need to move.

90% of the American public wants expanded background checks, your elected officials have decided to listen to the NRA lobby instead of their constituents. I work in NH and Kelly Ayott has seen a 15% drop in her approval rating since her vote on background checks, I know other senators have seen a drop in ratings also.

Wheres the stats?
What Im asking is simple.
Of all the registered guns, what % are used in criminal, non defensive period in any type of way that cant be somehow including in a zealots mind?

Now, if this is that important, and those currently registered guns arent a large % of the crimes, just trying to register them is as disingenuous as saying legalizing drugs would stop the sales of illegal drugs.
The carts still in front of the horse here guys.

Why cant we stop the illegal sales to begin with?
Using current laws?
Someone asleep out there or what?
Do that first, just like securing our border, where I saw people on the MSM in complete denial saying things like, yea, just hang out and see tons of people come striding thru and laiughing as if it werent so, and these were the so called reporters, whove probbly never left their city unless it was a well worn path in a national park, to see mother nature herself .
Just drive across I10 a few times, you will see them, I have, and no, its not a road I take often either.
People out of touch should be the last to make such clarion calls

There must be tons of work for people who are a employed to cover up bullet holes in everything ... the place must be riddled with bullets.

I'd be scared to go out.

They even found bullet holes in one of the panels of the ISS .. so it must have flown over Ry's house in Carolina or Olmangamer's house I guess ... they they mistook it for a large turkey ??

Who do you stand for the NRA or the people against all this gun ownership?

To the extent that I do not live in this country, I don't give a damn.
In France, we have the right to own firearms under fairly strict control... seems to be ok for everyone.
But I think the guys in the NRA are dangerously stupid people thinking they still live in the era of the Wild West.
