I've searched Google and can't find an answer specific to my problem.
Fairly recently new Soyo P4VGA motherboard with onboard AC97 audio which has
been enabled in the BIOS. Speakers connected to the correct port and tested fine
on another system. Running Win98SE and originally installed audio drivers that
came on CD with m/b.
The sound is "choppy" in any application I use. Whether it's a game, Windows
Media Player or whatever, the sound cuts in and out and the actions on the
screen stutter along with the sound. Without the sound enabled the games run
smoothly.
I've tried the newest AC97 audio driver for this m/b and still the same problem.
The wierd thing is going into the control panel and selecting Multimedia I've
tried to change the properties and lower the Hardware Acceleration from Full to
other levels and even after I click reply and reboot the level returns back to
Full.
Any advice on what's going on? Does the mothboard have a bad audio chip? What it
does play sounds right but maybe the choppiness will go away if I whack the
tower a few times with my shoe. . .
I don't have a clue about this one guys,
Brandy
