Opteron?

Does anyone know what the socket size of the Opteron processor is? Any opinions on it from people who have used it? performance, temp, etc... I am also curious about.

Socket 940, should be the same size as any other socket. Not sure about the performance but i know the temperature is fine, even though it has the thermal diode closer to the core so any reading you would get would seem high, but many remark that even if the reading is around 68C the heatsink feels cool

Yes, there are Opteron motherboards out there. Many are custom-designed (non-ATX) for specialized 1u systems. Some are ATX. Most (all?) lack an AGP slot.
