[SOLVED] Outputting to 144hz via a HDMI Switch

Hey everyone!
I currently have a HDMI Switch (Fosmon HD1831 3-Port HDMI Switch with Pigtail Cable) and it has worked well for me for quite some time.I am now running into an issue that it does not support 144hz signals..at least that is what I THINK.

Normally I have my laptop connected to the switch, and the switch to a monitor and has worked out great.
I recently purchased a new monitor (Acer VG240Y) and the monitor supports up to 144hz. When I set the display to use the 144, the screen starts flashing and resetting. After some time it goes back to 60hz. I then connect the laptop directly to the monitor and I am able to get the 144hz signal that I wanted. I disconnect the laptop from the monitor..back to the switch and the switch back to the monitor and I get the flickering screen again.

I really would like to use a switch on my setup because I also use a console capture card.

Perhaps I need a new HDMI switch?

The WIKIPEDIA page says you need 8Gb/s for 1080 144hz -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video
The specs for your switch say max of 7.5Gb/s -- https://www.fosmon.com/3x1-hdmi-intelligent-switch-with-pigtail-support
So no 144Hz for you.
You probably will have to get a 4K compatible HDMI switch that is HDMI 2.0 or better -- https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=39666
