Overheating CPU, Kindly help

I have an ASUS P5GZ-MX motherboard, intel dual core 2.5ghz processor, recently upgraded to 2gb ram(1gb hynix-new one) old 1gb ram was zion, 1tb hdd,psu local one. So my problem is my cpu is getting overheated to 67 degrees and shuts down abruptly. I changed the os, applied new thermal paste(cooler master), installed 2 new 80mm fans(cabinet), but still it\'s getting overheated and shuts down abruptly.I'm using windows 7 os(32bit). Kindly please help me out with this.

how did you apply the paste? You should have used no more than a grain of rice sized blob and then either spread with a bank card or squished with the heatsink when putting it on. Also did you remove all the old paste properly?

Failing that check the heatsink is properly on the CPU

Yes i have applied the paste evenly using a bank card provided with the paste (cooler master) and only used a grain of rice sized blob as u said. Yes the old paste was properly removed. Thanks for your reply.

Exactly which CPU are you using and what are you using to monitor temps?

The cpu is Intel dual core and the software i'm using is the one which comes with the asus motherboard cd(Probe-II)

"Intel dual core" covers about 2-3 dozen processors ranging from the Pentium-D series to the current Intel Core i3 Sandy Bridge processors. We need to know the exact processor.

Sorry about that, i'm using Intel Pentium D 820 processor.
