Hi.

I have an ASUS P4T533-C motherboard and I wanted to know what size CPU I could upgrade to, the maximum the board will support?

I have found blurb that says it will support up to 2.4GHz and beyond. What exactly is 'beyond'?

I currently have a 2.8GHz CPU, and to make enough of a difference I would like to upgrade to something like a 3.6GHz, but I can't find any for sale on the Internet that are socket 478.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me what the fastest speed CPU is that I could buy tomorrow, plop onto the M/B and away I go?

I have a 420w PSU, I hope that will be ok to run something higher?

Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated.

Rykers.

Unless there is some kind of adapter then ur pretty much at your maximum.

They do talk about a 3.06GHz 533FSB but only with iAA version 2.2.2 or later (if someone could explain the iAA?).
3.06 hardly seems worth it from the 2.8

3.06 CPU with 533 FSB is the fastest chip for that motherboard. If you are lucky to get your hands on some good Samsung 1066 RDRAM, that over clocks well, then you could run your system upto 3.450 at 600 FSB, with dual channel.

With my 2.8, the highest the board will allow me is 3.28. Wont go up any higher on the bios settings. I know the chip can do better. Otherwise thats a good board. I do use Samsung 1066 too.
