I'm in the early stages of planning my 2nd build and this question has been hard for me to answer:
If I use a P55 mobo, will I be able to crossfire two 5870s to full effect? I'd have just one now, but add 2nd in 1+ years.
The only reason I care about using the P55 is to pair with I5-750 CPU. But if the answer to the question above is negative, then I'll consider using AMD 965 instead with a x16/x16 mobo. Or third option of i7 and X58 board. Cost is a factor, but so is future proofing since this system will need to last 3-4 years.
Speaking of X58, is triple channel memory alone worth the added cost? For the extra gigs, 6 vs. 4? Plan to use Win7 64bit.
Oh yeah, this is gaming build. Monitor is 1920 x 1080.
Thank you for your help.
