I just finished a build and I used an Asus P8P67 Deluxe as the motherboard. Whenever I try to boot the system hangs on Q-code 30, the RAM light is lit up, and after ten seconds or so the systems shuts back down. I looked it up and tried almost everything; I have the battery out right now and I'm going to see if that does anything. But I've reset the CMOS (with the power off, yes, although not the battery out), I've rearranged the RAM three ways to Sunday, I tried it with just one stick in the first slot, just one stick in the second, I've held every power button I could find for at least 30 seconds trying to drain the board of energy.

If this battery thing doesn't work, what's left? The RAM I'm using is G.Skill 8 GB (2 x 4 GB), found here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 Apparently some people have been able to use the RAM with this motherboard; they mention putting in one stick at a lower setting, getting into BIOS, and fixing the RAM settings there.

Could it be the RAM latches? This board is the first one I've dealt with that doesn't have two. I've pushed pretty hard to get the RAM in there but I don't know how far I can go (some people report that the lack of a second latch can cause the RAM not to be seated completely, which can throw the 30 Q-code).

Any help? I need this computer for college in about two weeks so I'm freaking out a bit. :??: I'd rather not have to RMA.

I had a simalar problem when changing from Mushkin to Gskill. I reset CMOS with power unplugged. Then Installed one stick in slot A2. It started, I then set the timmings in bios saved, shut it down then added the other stick, been running good since.

Hopes this help 😀, got it from someone... BTW When you unplug everything, press power button to make sure every last drop of power is gone than reset CMOS...

EDIT: The Good news is, you can RMA your board and see if it still have problems...

Small update. I used only one stick of RAM in slot A2 and noticed that the end of the RAM without the clip wasn't in all the way. I gave it a firm push and booted up. No RAM light. 😀 I still received an error code (something about an IDE device) but I'm almost positive that it's because there's no OS on the hard disks yet. I added another stick in just to see what would happen and when I started the system the RAM light stayed off. 😀 All should go well from here; regardless I'll post an update.

And thanks for the help.
