Hello. Been having an issue with one of my computers for a while that while I boot it, the screen remains black and error code 9C is displayed in the bottom right corner. This doesn't happen all the time, and when bootcode A2 is displayed, the machine posts and works like normal.

The motherboard that I am using is a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 with a i7 4790K.
The RAM is Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 16GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz.

I have already performed the following troubleshooting, but has so far not yielded desired results:

Exchange the SATA cables on all boot devices.

Update MOBO BIOS and Chipset

Boot with only the OS drive plugged in.

Thank you for your time.

9C on the MSI Z97 boards I believe are USB errors.
Does it boot normally when you remove all your USB connections?
Have you tried updating all USB drivers? (As I can see you've already updated BIOS).
Equally have you tried testing each USB slot to ensure there's not a faulty slot?

Hello. Sorry for the late reply.

No I have not checked each USB slot, how would you recommend that I should do it? Since the issue only really occurs every now and then on start-up, I imagine that I should log each USB port in use during the error and then just swap them out 1-by-1?

Thanks for the help.
