Hello friends
This is my first question on tomshardware. i am building a new pc for software and web development purpose. i am gonna use visual studio, eclipse, phpStorm, vmware etc kind of software. no games at all( at most counter strike :p ).
Location: Rajasthan (India)
Budget: 45000Rs at max without monitor ( 750$ ) Budget is tight :(
I am looking for following configuration
CPU: i7-4790 http://
MOBO: ASUS h97M-plus http://
RAM: 2X4gb ddr3 corsair vengence 1600mhz http://
PSU: corsair cs450m 450watts http://
CASE: cooler master N500 http://
SSD: corsair 60GB http:// OR sandisk 64GB http://
HDD: i have one WD 500GB
dvd rom: i have one portable LG
GPU: Do i need a gpu??:sarcastic:

So far the cost is around 43,500rs( 725$ )

My Question are:

1. Should i go for i5-4690 so that i can save some money or i7 is worth it.
2. Its not gonna be a gaming pc so can i skip a GPU or should i get one.
3. Is intel4600 is good enough to run a full HD screen or may be a second one also(2 monitor)
4. Any suggestion for mobo. or its a good one for me ???
5. since mobos are dual channel these days so 2X4GB or 1X8GB?? i think 2X4 will be fast. are they???
6. 8GB is enough for my needs???
7. i am worried about PSU. is it sufficient for my build?? if u have other psu within budget? i want a modular or semi-modular psu :)
8. do need more SSD GB's??
9. suggest me a good kb+mouse(wireless)(not a gaming) which is durable, smooth and comfortable.??
10. how do u see this configuration. am i missing something. ??? i am currently using a 5year old core2duo pc with 2gb ram.. :(

i want this new build to stay silent, working without problem for 3-4years. And will this be good for flawless coding. i dont want to keep waiting to load a program or s/w =D

Thanks for any responce :)

Regarding the other questions : If you're indeed going for the i7 then the intel HD 4600 can run a monitor at full HD no problems and carryout simple stuff like web browsing and other user friendly tasks.

Maximum Res : DisplayPort*/HDMI- 3840x2160@ 60Hz,
4096x2304@24Hz, VGA

-If your chosen Xeon or I7 CPU has onboard graphics then you can skip the GPU and buy it at a later point . If you went a Xeon with no GPU on board then buy a very simple GPU like HD 5450 just to do your regular stuff ( not for gaming ) or a R7-250X/Radeon 7770 ( both are the same card so grab what's cheaper ) if you'll do entry level...
Regarding the CPU :
You might want to check this link for the discussion on i7 vs xeon processor:

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=925910

and this sample comparison of i7 and Xeon processor:

http://ark.intel.com/compare/52214,52276

Based on the discussion and from your specification, Xeon processor is best suited for your tasks which will mainly do server duties/activities. Xeon processor has support for ECC memory and has advantage over larger L1/L2 cache. Aside from ECC support, Xeon also supports Intel® vPro Technology, Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) and Intel® Trusted Execution Technology which would definitely increase overall performance especially on virtualization.

So in my opinion, Xeon is the best way to go if you are into virtualization and server activities.

Warning : Xeon ( most of them ) don't have onboard graphics and will need a discrete graphics card moreover it can't be overclocked like a normal CPU.

- I won't recommend a motherboard till you tell me about your CPU choice ( after researching it on your behalf to know the ins and outs of it )

- Usually for that kind of stuff 16 GB is recommended but 8 will do just fine for the time being , you can get a single 8 GB dim and add another 8Gb at a later point .

- For your build I'd buy an EVGA 500B , not only efficient but can handle most modern day graphics card / CPU combination at a modest price

- I'd get a 64 GB SSD just for the OS and very very essential programs that you want to load quickly

- For Mouse and Keyboard you might want to look at the Cooler Master Devastator pack , its cheap and very good.

- I can't really judge the build till you give me your full choices .

i think i will go for i7 over a xenon.
if i get a 8gb ram now then will it be compatible with the new 8gb ram. actually i read that two RAMs of the same specification may not work as aspected

If they are the same RAM then you'll have no issues , again the Xeon fits your needs more . Only buy an I7 if its cheaper.

yes, u are absolutely right. this xenon processor has the onboard graphics and has price slightly less that i7. but i have not heard people using xenon is pc. they are server cpu. But will they be good in everyday task also ??

Doesn't mean that they are used in servers that they are bad for everyday usage , in fact they excel at what you're trying to do and will indeed be very good for daily usage.
