Hi all,

My PSU recently failed, creating sparks, and was promptly replaced.

Initially, when I added in the new PSU, the PC wouldn't post to BIOS. I took it into a repair shop and they managed to get it working, saying they simply took it apart and reconnected everything. They didn't reconnect the HDD (my secondary drive) as the SATA cable was broken and the SATA port on the HDD was also broken. I've been running the PC without the HDD in the meantime.

This SATA port has always been broken, the plastic guard which holds the cable in place has been missing for as long as I can remember; I've just been holding it in place with electrical tape, this has worked for years. I received a SATA cable today and hooked it back up. One of the pins on the SATA port was out of place, so I had to bend it back into the right position. The HDD now shows up in BIOS, and when I try to boot (using the correct boot drive), it just hangs at the Windows splash screen. It's been doing this for about half an hour, when it normally boots in seconds. What should I do?
