Need advice on memory. Motherboard is either going to be an abit or gigabyte p35. Standard memory for either board is ddr2 800, ( pc6400 ). I will be over clocking and I'd like to know if It's possible to use pc8500 or higher on these boards. And, if I did, would there be an increase in performance. :hello:

Go with the 8500's, I reccomend Crucial Ballistix PC2 8500's as mine do 800MHz 3-3-3-8 or 5-5-5-15 @1200MHz 2.2v. These dimms seem to like high memory clock rates. Anybody OC'ing should get the 8500's as theres my headroom when OC'ing, don't let your ram limit your OC. You can get them for $159.99 at NewEgg.

The thing is that if you ram ever go's bad if you go with Crucial you know your getting quality Micron IC's, the others could change chip brands.

systemlord, what is the best performance you get for either low-latency 800mhz settings or high latency 2200 mhz settings?
