Question PCI-E Card Touching Metal Cage - Problematic?

Hi everyone!

I might have to install a new Optane drive soon, which will require a U2 to PCI-E adapter for my motherboard PRIME Z690-A .

As you can see, there's only one x4 PCI-E slot available, but due to the M2 heatsink next to it (with light brown stripes), I don't believe the U2 to PCI-E adapter card (exactly like the one below hosting another Optane drive) will fit. The heatsink will block it horizontally.

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to get a PCI-E riser/extension cable, and let the card sit on the metal cage floor to the right where beneath it, it's where the hard drive cages are I believe. So basically I won't be mounting it with screws or anything, and the bottom of the optane hard drive will be in contact with the case.

Unless there is something I can get or do to minimize contact... or perhaps a better idea, let me know what you think of this!

Is there a reason why you need an Optane drive?
They have apparently been discontinued and chasing sequential speeds on a ssd is not usually worth it.

Otherwise, touching the cases to grounded parts should not be an issue.
