Hmm now I really want one. I looked up the chilly1 and woah momma I get this At least to cool the 965 when comes. Ill water cool with the Spin-Q mod.

Yeah, but your going to have to make a phase change as well wich isnt as easy as the spin-q mod. [:jaydeejohn:4]

I will help you build one if you want. :sol:

Sure thing. My friend and I were discussing ways to use a window A/C unit to cool a processor the other day. It looks to me as if its already been done. HMMMMMMMM..... more interested I say.

^^ Yep thats exactly what i did... i took apart a window ac and instead of hooking it up so it cools a larg area i am making it cool a cpu to only.

So, in essence it is taking all of the A/C's power and directing it in a single spot.

Like i said... i will help you. It is a really fun project (=

Most people buy a separate compressor and condensor... wich will set u back at least 250 maybe $300.

But why would u do that when you can buy a window ac for $50 on craigs list and it has both of those components in it. [:jaydeejohn:4]

Yea, but you have to remember not everyone is as smart as you......

Its not really about being smart just about doing your homework. Any idiot can put shite together after doing the right research. Most people have the smarts to be able to do such things, but they choose to go the easy route, because its easier
to just buy something than make it. I on the other hand find it very interesting when a person foregoes modern capitalism to show how the human brain can be used to do it yourself.

Yeah definetly... and i could give you some kickass links that would help you "do your research...You just have to know how to do a good brazing/soldering job (wich it seems you do)

I bought my new system in november and since then i have gone from stock cooling -> good air cooling->water -> phase

and am planning to do ln2 soon...

Just shows you what were capable of (=

And on top of that you feel like you have acomplished something that not many can do....makes you feel great....

Im considering it! I have alot on my plate with this build, adding more right now would probably put me into sensory overload or something. It is an awesome Idea and it is a possibility. I just dropped some more temps from the 940 By adding this to the desk.

blower.jpg

This is a dayton blower @ 201 CFM and 2675 RPM ............... AIR MOVER WOW!

CPU @ 3.7 Ghz
previous temps: 38C Idle 55C load
Current temps: 34C Idle 48C load

CPU @ 3.0 Ghz
29C Idle 37C load

They are nice but this does the whole job not just one end. Unfortunately I dont think it will even come close to fitting in a regular case.

Yes indeed, im currently working on a watercooled setup just to compare temps and see if it is really a night n day difference. Going to start off with some old hardware and a Thermaltake BW system and hopefully I will see some nice temps.... If not then its back to tweaking my normal air coolers.....

^ Its basically the same principle that makes a regular heatsink, but it is just like 10 times larger.

I could sell it though it would have to be expensive. Like $100 or so...

still, it would cool as good as an expensive water cooler.
