Hi.

Hope someone can help me with this problem. Yesterday i purchased and
downloaded Flight one,s Piper Meridian. The download went ok without any
problems and i installed the Piper Meridian into my main FS 2004 file.
The piper Meridian shows up in my aircraft file and everything looks
normal there.

When i open FS2004 and choose Piper Meridian (comes up as Flight ons
software in the "choose aircraft menu") FS 2004 hangs and i get no
further. When i finally get back to my desktop, there is a message there
saying: "The flight simulator registry information has not been found on
your system".

I have uninstalled and installed again, but still get the same message.
It is just with Piper i get the message, when i choose any of the other
aircraft on my sim, i have no problems what so ever. So, does anybody
have and idea what is wrong here and what i have to do to solve this
problem.

I am running windows xp on my system, cpu amd 3200+, 1gb mb and a ATI
Radeon 128mb card (can,t remember the number just right now). And yes i
have legally purchased FS 2004 :) (just wondering if the message is
suggesting otherwise).

Well, i would appreciate any help in solving this problem, maybe
somebody that has also purchased the same aircraft can tell me if there
has been any message like this on his/her machine.

I have put out a message on the flight one,s forum, but haven,t heard
from anybody yet.

Regards

John

I do own the Piper Meridian, and I've never experienced this problem;
or any other problem with this plane. That said...

I have *no idea* if this might have anything to do with your problem,
but have you by any chance changed the "default flight" as it was
shipped with the program? I ask because of this:

http://tinyurl.com/5k9gl

As I said, I really don't know if this would have anything to do with
your specific problem, but in the absence of any other wild guess I
might come up with, it's my best shot for the moment.

The Meridian is a great plane, so I hope you will be able to sort out
the problem!

Good luck!

Mmmm,
I know mine used to crash if I went into the game with the virtual cockpit
selected as default. It might be worth going into the sim in another
aircraft and whilst ensuring you are in the 2d cockpit view, try selecting
the meridian from the menu.

Tried that and it did not work.....still the message i mention came. I
forgot to mention that this message came in a "Fss error (or was it Fs
error)" window. Anything one can find out about that error message i
get: "The flight simulator registry information has not been found on
your system". What does it mean?

Well, not having the Meridian I would start with the obvious. Have you
ever used REGEDIT (the included Windows registry tool) to view your
registry before?

If so, search for these entries:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\
Flight Simulator\9.0]

and

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft.MicrosoftFlightSimulator.9]

Do you have them?

Thanks for trying to help me.

I have looked at REGEDIT before, but don,t really know how to use it all
though and what the registry is really. But i looked for what you told
me and found out the first line you wrote...but it was under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT GAMES/FLIGHT SIMULATOR/9.0 and not
HKEY-LOCAL_MACHINE ...................

The other line i could not find

What should i do now....am i looking at a total reinstall of FS2004 maybe?

I believe that the missing line may be your culprit and might be easily
corrected with a small REG file that I could send you or post here.

First, do this for me: Post back with your *exact* directory structure
where your FS9 is located.

For example:

c:\program files\microsoft games\fs9\

Use Windows Explorer to find it.

Hi again.

My exact diretory structure for flightsimulator is:

c:\programfiler\microsoft games\Flight Simulator 9

Was it this you ment? Just to mention it "programfiler" is norwegian for
"program files" i guess, but just before this file i also have a file
catalog called "program files".

I run the norwegian xp proffesional, but all the times there has been a
"programfiles" and a "programfiler" (just afterwards). "Programfiler" is
were all my programs are located. I do not anything special about
downloading...looks like everthing goes into this file catalog.

If you want, just send to me by email.

Maybe I could step in with a similar experience I had. However it was not
MSFS but another program (don't remember anymore which one...) that produced
similar "missing registry" warnings. And the reason was similar to your
setup. I'm using a german version of XP thus the main program folder is
called "Programme" rather than "program files". Now the point is that some
installers care for the language version and propose the correct path for
installation, some other don't and just propose the default (english) path
with "program files" instead of the language dependend program folder.
So what I did was to delete the default folder "program files" (make sure it
is empty...., otherwise reinstall the application found there into the
proper - local language - program folder) and rund a good registry cleaner
(I use Ashampoo Registry Cleaner, but there are of course even better
ones....). After that everything went back to smooth operation.
It might well be that you (inadvertently) installed an add-on to MSFS into
the default "program files" folder and thus screwed up the registry (some
add-ons even register themselves....)
Just a thought......

Oskar.

I tried your solution, but looks like it didn,t help. I know that
sometimes when i downloaded add ons, i could not find them in my main
FS9 catalog (programfiler), but when i did a search for the add on i
downloaded, i found it in the program files catalog - so i guess iam
somehow aware of that problem. I have now deleted tha english program
file (was just one programe there which i moved). But as i said, it did
not help me.

I also tried Melissa,s tip also, but no luck there (if i did it right).
I might add that when i get into the main menu with the default plane
and airport and then go to the next menu where i pick the piper Meridian
and then clik ok to go back to the main menu....the default cessna and
the piper "flickers" (changes places fast) back and forth in the
window...if you understand what i mean? At the end i just have to
ctrl-alt-delete to get out and back to my desktop.

One additional thought for the moment...

Did you go to the Meridian "support" page at the Flight1 site? I was
a bit confused about the "fs2004 update" available there for the
plane, but just as a precaution, I installed it anyway; directly
after installing the full package, and before I ever opened the sim
to fly the plane for the first time. Whether or not this was
overkill on my part, my Meridian has always worked perfectly. Just a
thought.

I see inn the description window for the aircraft in the FS2004 menu
that it says " piper meridian PA-46 500Tp for 2002". Even if i install
the fs2004 update it still says "for 2002"

I have reinstalled the whole package again by downloading from flight1
(giving them the info needed to reinstall) with out that helping. I
tried to save this as the default flight, but i just get this
"flickering" between the default cessna and the piper (as mentioned
before) so i have to ctrl-alt-delete to get out on my desktop.

Just thinking out loud, what if i try and reinstall my whole
FS2004...would that maybe help? If this message window i have mention
earlier "The flight simulator registry information has not been found on
your system"..will that suggest that this registry info is missing and
by reinstalling FS2004 this info will be stored again?

Well, this has to be last resort, but if nothing else helps out - might
be worth the try......or not?

Well, have to sleep on this one, thanks for all the help and suggestions
today...apreciate it....better day tommorrow :)

Before you go to that much trouble, I would just rename the "Flight
Simulator 9" folder to something else then install FS9 again. That in
theory would add any missing registry entries. Then rename or delete the
new "Flight Simulator 9" folder and rename the old one back again to see if
that solves the problem.

Not an elegant solution, but if it works who cares?

Well, another day has begun....and guess what.....got the Meridian up
and running, took even of from Flesland, Bergen (ENBR) and did a litle
sightseeing in the neiborhood.

Solution to the problem was as Dallas mention in his post, but i just
moved my whole FS9 catalog to another place on my hard drive and
installed the whole FS9 once more under the local language av
"programfiler" as mention before in this thread. Once FS9 was installed
with the basics (no add ons) i reinstalled first the meridian from
scratch...and this time i noticed that the installation folder was
already in this window - before i had to browse after the FS9
mainfolder. I did the installation and when i went back into FS9, the
Meridian was there as usual....i clicked ok and with my heart raging i
waited 1 sec....2.sec....3 sec..... voila!! there it was ready on runway
17 with the motor running. Took of and it handeld very nicely.

Well, guess the problem solved now, there was a little file or something
missing i guess and the installation again was well needed. Just have to
move som of my old files over now and delete the one i moved earlier and
get flying.

Well, thanks everbody for all the tips and everything.....appreciate
that very much.

John

I'm glad Varmit was able to help you sort it out! :)

I think you'll really enjoy it! This plane, and also the Flight1
Cessna 421 are my favorite "longer range/higher/faster" prop planes,
and when I want to do some more "serious" IFR flying, I really enjoy
the Meridian.

Happy flying! :)
