Hi all!

My external WD Elements SE became unusable after I reboot my pc because it was not accepting some files transfers.

It's stuck on RAW format and I can't do nothing with it. Sometimes the Win Explorer recognizes it, others doesn't. I went through several tips on the internet and I will write what I have done so far.

1- The Data Lifeguard diagnostic shows it with a Raw Read Error Rate.

2- Used the HDD Low level Format tool and it showed some "Format Error occurred at offset" the entire format.

3- The HDD Regenerator shows this message: "Master Boot Record of this hard drive is damaged!"

4- The diskpart shows this message after my attempt to converting it " DiskPart has encountered an error: The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error. See the System Event Log for more information."

I don't know what I should do now. Is possible to make this hdd work again or is it dead?

Thanks!

Solution
Sounds like its dead. Sadly WD has changed the PCB on these to use a mico B plug so you can no longer pull them out of the case and plug them directly into a motherboard sata port.
