I've been here a little while, and I've gotten to know some of you pretty well. Still though, I have no idea who is running what, and what is generally prefered. I think it would be enlightening for everybody, and would bring us to a better understanding, as far as who we are, and what we are about, when it comes to computers, if we could all list our specs(or 3DMark2001SE score)on one post(this one) so we can all get to know eachother a little better. If this sounds dumb to you, then let me know. Maybe there is something about your system that your particularly proud of, or something you've achieved that otheres might be interested in?. Maybe you've found a fix for a common problem that others might not know about?.....regardles, I need a thread that will add some spice to this forum, and what you guy's are currently running is pretty interesting to me.

what i have now is a craptacular and laggy geforce2pro... what i want is a 9700 nonpro... or if i wait long enough a better 9800 nonpro.

all depends on money. i have some, but i should really save it.

Spitfire, do you run Win2000 for better performance, or do you not have a copy of WinXP yet?

Built this system last June:

P4 2.26, Gigabyte 8iexp, 2x256MB DDR333, Winfast Ti4200 128MB vivo GP4x,
2xMaxtor D740X 80GB, LiteOn 16x DVD-ROM, Enermax 350W PSU, Win2000 Pro.
Also, CD writer and PCI modem from old PC.

It seems like most people bought quality motherboards, and this is where I skimped out. It sucks having a motherboard that doesnt let you overclock anything. I'ts like having one of those pre-fabbed Dell's or HP's, they dont let you play with the innerworkings. I keep telling myself that it's for the better that I cant adjust any multipliers, because I would probably burn something up, but I actually am going kinda nuts that I cant unlock anymore potential out of my system without buying more expensive hardware.

My current setup (soon to be upgraded  )

Athlon 2000+
Soyo Dragon +
512 Megs Mushkin PC2100 CL2
GeForce 3 Ti500
Maxtor 30 GIG HD
Soundblaster Audigy
Altec Lansing 4100 4.1 Surround Speakers
Generic Case and Generic 350 Watt P/S
Other Components: Sony E400 19" Monitor, DVD Drive, CD-ROM

3DMark2001SE Score: 7970
3DMark2003 Score: Pending.

My next system constists of the following:

Case: Kingwin KT-436BK-WM Black, Aluminum Alloy
Power Supply: Antec Truepower 430W
Processor: Pending (Waiting for 800 FSB Pentium)
Motherboard: Pending (Waiting for Canterwood)
Graphics Card: Pending (Waiting for 9800 PRO-256 and NV35)
Hard Drives: Pending (I'm thinking of SATA RAID 0 Maybe 2 Maxtor 80 gig or 120 gig?)
Memory: 512 x 2 Corsair XMS PC3500
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Speakers: Creative Cambridge Megawroks 6.1 THX
Other Components: Sony E400 19" Monitor, Sony 16X DVD-ROM; Sony 52x24x52 CD Burner

I'll add pending components and benchmarks when I finish the upgrade. The named components are what I already have bought and are sitting in my closet, waiting. I buy components one at a time over the course of three or four months. This will be the first time I can afford to build a truly high-end system. Can't wait 'til May!

Yes, I should save my money, like Poo. Not this time though. Just once I'm gonna be bleeding edge.

Lol! It's very difficult! But I know the RAM won't do me any good on my current system. The speakers and sound card...well, let's just say I have to do some major reorganizing to make my 6.1 speakers fit.

It is hard though. I actually ordered a 1700+ and an Epox 8RDA+ and a 9500 PRO, because I was so impatient. Then, I changed my mind and cancelled the order. I'll be much more futureproof if I just wait two months. At least the motherboard should be good for a couple years.

Not to mention, I'll get my tax return by then--which will pay for the graphics card, motherboard, and hard-drives (I think. I'm figuring Canterwood will run around $250. Sound about right?

It's hard seeing people switching to Intel, but I think that it's only going to be the true 'enthusiaste's that will seek such high speed systems, AMD will always have their fans, but but the market has deffinately turned in favor of Intel when it comes to all out performance....kinda sad..

don't have a clue, maybe a bug

like my printer refuse to run with the original driver for a while now, using a different model's driver and everything is peachy. 😀

Jaythaman, did you notice a difference in going to 512kb of L2 cache, when it comes to gaming? or do you think sheer Mhz speed is the factor...

My Score..http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6258104

Well first of all i'm no expert the last rig i had was a pentium 1 200mhz 512kb l2 cache. Now you cant really compare the two can you?
Sheer speed of course doesnt matter nowadays and that has been proven by amd. But what made me choose the 2.4b was the fact that the only other proc from amd at that time here was the 2400+ (not even TB i think) and it doesnt match up to the 2.4b so i went for the intel. I would've taken the 1006 RDRAM but ALAS MONEY! this 128*2 sticks cost me 6000 bucks where i live whereas the 1066 was 10,000+. But still it's a great performer.

Monitor cooler is just a fan in a case which allows you to put it on top of your monitor to cool it down. And this Just Cooler MC-100 uses a chasis braket such that it can connect to the psu, so no external power plug needed and it's quiet. It cools down my monitor very efficient, it never get hot but only stays at room temperature

Is it a praise? I'll accept the title anyway :). But actually I just 'copy and paste' those specs becuase I happened to be typing my full specs and sending to my friend for evaluation and comparison.
