Portable Gaming USB drives

My focus is not on disc content, but can we make it a portable, self contained piece of software on a portable thumbdrive to free up space on the computer itself. I have no other options. So can we stuff something like Fallout 1 onto a thumbdrive of appropriate size. Let me know if so. Experts should answer. Non-experts will be ignored.

This is possible and I've seen it done, but it requires modifying of the game files which usually is against the terms.

I don't think flash-drives will do, I know someone who has one of these and they are really good.
