Presario ethernet controller

Hello,
where can i get drivers for ethernet controller of compaq presario v 6000 ? only wireless lan drivers are available on hp site.

I have a similar laptop and there should be a program on there which is by HP and manages all the drivers etc. If you open it the program will automatically detect which drivers you need. Check in the start menu under HP.

How do I download an 'Ethernet 'driver to a Compaq 6000 computer when the computer can not get on line without a driver being present. Am I missing the point somewhere ? I downloaded a driver possibly the right one on another computer, it arrived into downloads but it does not seem that I can copy it from downloads to be able to put it on a disc to transfer it to the Compaq. When you go to Device Manager, right-click on the device with unknown driver, go to Details, and from there select "Hardware IDs". What are VEN and DEV fields?
