My windows print queue is VERY (about 2-3 mins) slow to clear printed
jobs and begin new jobs when documents are printed from any application
one after the other. Can anyone help?
For example: If I print 10 text pages in document1 from Word and then
opened document2 and printed an its 10 text pages the following happens:
document1 begins printing immediately and document2 goes into the queue
behind it. When document1 finishes it sits in the queue with 99% of data
reported as transmitted to the printer for about 2-3 mins before it
clears. If I delete the job, after it's already been fully printed, then
it still takes 2-3 mins before it clears. Once the job clears the next
begins and the same thing happens.
My printer is an HP 1300 with the latest HP drivers. My printer is
connected to or network via the Hawking PS12U (Ethernet to USB print
server). The PS12U isn't the problem because if my roommate prints at
the same time that I print then his document starts right after the
printer finishes my document. However, both of our 1st documents sit in
the Windows queue and fail to clear quickly but the 2nd document prints
once the first document clears (several mins later). Plus, if my 3rd
roommate prints while we're waiting on our 1st jobs to clear our queues
then his print job starts immediately on the printer. So it's not the
PS12U's fault.
