Good Morning,

I don´t know where i could post about some troubles, so i post it here, sorry if it is the wrong place.

I´m having a problem in my new computer that i build last month, he keeps restarting by himself after some hours of work or gaming, can you guys give me hints of what can be the source of problem?

The specs are:

CPU - I7 920 Nehalm lga 1366;
Motherboard - P6t deluxe v2;
Memory - 6 gb (3x2GB) Patriot;
Graphic Card - Geforce 285 GTX;
HardDisk - 1 Western Digital 1TB - Green label
CPU cooler - It´s the default one that come with I7 processor;
Case - Zalman Fatality, which come with 2 small fans in front and 1 big at the back;
PSU - Thermaltake with 750 Watts;

I´m using windows XP sp3, NOD32 as antivirus, which is updated and it didn´t detected any virus on the computer.

ill apreciate some help,

Thank You

When i said "Keeps restarting" i meant, the computer turns off, Power off, fans stop (Shut Down), then after 2 secs he turns on again and this problem continues more frequently.

The CPU temps is at windows, when i use some software that come with the Motherboard, i think its called Epu, and its working at the Turbo Mode.

Power failures, will im from Mozambique, Maputo, it has some power failures, but it´s rare, like once per month. About irregular voltage spikes, how can i answear about that, or how can i test if it is irregular? I think its regular.

it could be your graphic card's drivers, when you installed your GTX 280 did you make sure its not oced? thats what happend with my 4870x2, i didnt uninstall my old drivers and it automatically adjusted the speed to like 800 mhz using CCC and it just kept crashing my comp, and restarting.

Driver Specs:

System information - Nvidia Control Panel
Display Window

Directx 9.0c
Driver 182.06
Stream processors 240
Graphics clock 615 MHz
Processor clock 1350 MHz
Memory clock: 1107 MHz (2214 MHz data rate)
Memory interface 512-bit
Memory 1024 MB
video BIOS Version 62.00.1C.00.10
IRQ 24
Bus PCI Express x16 Gen2

Components Window
3D Settings File Version
nvGameS.dll 6.14.11.8206
nvGameSR.dll 6.14.11.8206
PhysX 909.02.03

Display
NV4_DISP.DLL 6.14.11.8206
NV4_MINI.SYS 6.14.11.8206
NVCPL.DLL 6.14.11.8206
nvDispS.dll 6.14.11.8206
NVOGLNT.DLL 6.14.11.8206
NVMCTRY.DLL 6.14.11.8206
nvDispSR.dll 6.14.11.8206

I´ve noticed that the file version to Physx is different, is that the source of the problem? If not, the drivers are all ok? Should i get another drivers for geforce GTX 280? If so which one?

About uninstall the software EPU of the board, i will do that, but later, wanna see if the change of drivers or something will solve the problem.

I didn´t overclocked anything, just mounted the computer and didn´t change anything in BIOS.
If it is overclocked by default, i must go to BIOS and change right, and change what to what Mhz?
I don´t know anything about overclocking devices that´s the reason i didn´t overclocked anything and because that changes voltages of computer and could damage the Computer, so i didn´t change nothing in BIOS.

About temperature (with Probe II)
The CPU is at 37º Celsius and the memory is at 38º Celsius.
The CPU fan is at 2109 RPM.

Best Regards and Thank you for helping, hope that u guys can give me a easier solution,

Check your bios and see if there's something related to automatic cpu overclocking and try to disable it. Check also your memory for irregular setups other than the stock settings. Use CPU-Z to check your timings, etc. Restarts like these usually happens when a system is unstable.

That software that comes with the motherboard can cause problems. I agree with the other guy uninstall the Asus software. I've seen it cause problems many times.

Asus makes great hardware, but they need to give up on software.

I would also like to mentioin that I have seen people having problems with multirail powersupplies in the 750w range causing problems with the GTX285. I forget exactly where I saw people talking about this problem but it is definitely a thought to be considered.

ok, then i will uninstall the software of the Asus before making any change in BIOS. I am using a GTX 280 so i think that problem of PSU doesn´t apply here right?
And i will also get a PS of 1200 Watts, to see if it can be avoid irregular spikes of voltage.

1200W? What are you running, tri-SLI?

Going higher isn't the solution. You're not gonna use it anyway unless you're really gonna go tri-SLI. If you want to avoid spikes, use an appropriate hardware for that. Get a UPS or an extension with surge protection feature.

As for me, heat is your problem. Check your components first. Use different software for checking temps to confirm. e.g. HWMonitor, CoreTemp, SpeenFan, etc. Take note that you must get the temps when the computer is at load (not idle). Use stress test/benchmarking softwares to do that. e.g. Prime95, memtest, etc.

When i said 1200 PS watts i meant an UPS with 1200 Watts. About those softwares i will test this weekend.
Thank u all for helping me

thank you very much guys, i´ve uninstalled all asus software (from the motherboard cd) and i think that the problem is solved, i´ve been almost 48 hours with the computer without any strange shut down.
Thank you!
