Question Proximity sensor fix - android (paranoid android)

Ok guys, so my proximity sensor acts as if it was always covered and this causes me to need to reboot the phone everytime someone doesn't answer a phone call since the screen stays black and doesnt even let me close the call or do anything but rebooting. I've checked with an app that my light sensor does work, so I was wondering if it was possible to use that sensor in some way to do everything the proximity sensor used to do (what are light sensors used for anyways? ). Any advice on how to solve this problem other than the one I'm talking about is still useful, I'm mainly worried about the phone calls.

My phone is a Xiaomi mi5 btw, and I flashed paranoid android over it.

No, you can't. You would need to replace the system board to fix the sensor. Since you flashed the phone with another ROM, did this issue happen right after you did that or did the sensor work and then stopped?
