Question PSU adapter 8 pin question

Hi Im just trying to convert an old CPU to a small mining rig. It only will have 2 GPUs: rtx 2080 and rx580. However my PSU has only 3 x 8 pin connectors. One is for the motherboard and I can connect the 2xPCIE 8 pin to the rtx 2080. Would it be possible to get a 2xmolex or sata to 8 pin adapter (something like these https://www.newegg.com/p/17Z-00VJ-0...ter-_-9SIAFZ4GJ65023-_-Product&quicklink=true) and connect that to the rx580? Will it cause any issue with my PSU?

According to the linked description your PSU has 2 8-pin cables and 2 6-pin cables, so all you need is 2x 6-pin to 8-pin adapter as that's far more safe then any molex/sata to 8-pin adapters. I'm not convinced that PSU has enough power to run both cards (especially if it has been in work for a couple of years) but you can try it out.

That is a terrible PSU to run one discrete graphics card off of.... never mind two.

Each 6 pin runs off the same cable as the 8 pin, its not its individual cable. Would that still be ok?

That does not matter whether they are individual cables or not ... but if jonnyguru says the PSU will not budge two cards then it is pointless to try. Of course, as always, it can seem to work for a while - then go kaboom at the least expected moment when overloaded PSU gives up.
