Hi all,
I recently build a new computer. In windows everything works fine but when i try to start a game the GPU (HD6870) crashes to a black screen.
I tried everything to fix it without any results. To my last resort I went playing with the GPU voltage. Increasing it didn't help but even made it more unstable. So i decreased it from the standard 1200mV to 1130mV.
To my biggest suprise this has a positive inpact on the GPU. I could start my games and play for a couple of minutes before it crashes. I tried lowering it a bit more but it became unstable as a result (witch is normal because it doen't get enough power to run properly).
Now i'm wondering what i should do to fix this problem. Is there something wrong with the card that it can't bump the regular voltage or does the PSU deliver not enough power? Should I buy a better PSU or should I RMA the card. I don't know where the origin of the problem lies. (It has nothing to do with heat, temps are low)
Here are the Specs of my system: (nothing is overclocked)
-ASRock 880GMH/U3S3 motherbord
-AMD Phenom II 965 Black edition (125w version)
-ATI HD 6870
-2x4GB DDR3 @ 1600 mhz
-1 DVD/CD drive
-2 regular S-ATA HDD
Here are the specs of my PSU:
Ultron UN-550G Green Force 550W
- ATX Version 2.2 power supply
- Passiv PFC
- 2x 6-pin connectors
- 2 x 12V rails @ 19A / 400W 12V rail output
AC output:______________________________________230Vac 5A_________________________________________
DC output:____+3,3V________+5V___________+12V(1)_________+12V(2)_____-5V______-12V________ +5Vsb
_____________16A__________25A____________19A_____________19A_______0,5A______0,8A_________2,5A
Max. Current: --------130W---------_____________-------------400W-----------_______-------12W--------_______12,5W
Total wattage: 550W
I already tried an PSU calculator. I came on a total of 530W but I don't know if my Amps are sufficiant.
I would be really gratefull to hear a convenient answer![Smile :) :)](/data/assets/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanx on advantage and sorry for my bad english.
