Does anyone know of a good psu to replace my evga 500w 80+B? That thing been giving me issues just recently by turning itself off for no reason. i really dont need more than 500w cause im not running anything heavy.

Specs: i3 6100
Mobo: msi h110m pro vd
Ram: crucial 2x4gb ddr4 2133
HDD: western digital blue 1tb
Gpu: igpu/ hd 530 (Might upgrade to a gtx 1050 ti or rx 470 in a year or so, but not now.)
Psu: ????

Budget? Hmm... idk, i have to ask my parents to buy me it so maybe ... just budget. Anything less than 80 or 70, around the 50 to 60 ish would be great.

Modular would be great, however ill take a much better non modular psu than a modular psu any day. Performance over cable wires lol.

You really need to start a new thread for specific recommendations. This is more a discussion thread.

If you're having shutdowns I think it's very unlikely to be the power supply since you're only using integrated graphics. There's practically no load on that system so I suspect any problems you're having are related to something else. If it does turn out to be the power supply I would also think that unit is still under warranty as well.

Start a new thread in the Systems section with complete specs and the exact problems you're having.

Looks like Corsair just brought back the HX and TX ( although it's now the modular TX-M ) series. I don't see anything in the RealHardTechX database or on Orion's Platform site about them though. I don't think I'd seen any marketing for them actually.

The new HX jumps to 80 Plus Platinum and the new TX-M jumps to 80 Plus Gold.

Both the original HX and the original TX series were very good. I had a 750TX for about 7 years and I really only replaced it because I was tired of the huge mass of cables. Thankfully the new ones are modular.

Hopefully someone knows more about these? ( cough cough Orion? you there?) 😀

There a bigger article here, with internal pictures of HX and TX-M: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/corsair-hx-tx-psus,33271.html

HX uses a CWT layout from RMx (except 1200W), with probably different silicon for higher efficiency and perhaps different performance.

TX-M is half bridge LLC resonant with DC-DC converters and full Japanese capacitors (same idea as almost every high end PSU), but the article is slightly inaccurate about them OEM - it's not CWT, since they don't use square main transformers or white stickers on the feedback transformer. The general layout and "GW-ATX750XX" right next to the optocouplers means it's made by Great Wall, which is very good.

Appreciate the quick response. I saw that article after I posted here. :)

Great Wall has been pretty good ( at least in my amateur opinion ) since they were an OEM for OCZ years ago.

Corsair's CS Series is all made by Great Wall so it's not like it's a new OEM for Corsair.

Yep but they were making OCZ units back when CWT and Seasonic were Corsair's only OEMs

I'm not keen on Great Wall, but that doesn't mean that I think everything they make is junk. The Corsair CS series is not anything to brag about for sure. I've found them to be quite unreliable over the years.

I'm willing to be that the G2 and G3 units outsell the gold rated Prime units by at least 2:1 even if the Prime units perform better as there are more than enough EVGA fanboys out there who will recommend them over all else and the same goes for the corsair units.

Well and the name is more well known among PC enthusiasts for PSUs. EVGA is more well known for their NVidia GPUs and warranty.

Dear experts,
I hope your judgements are going on,
please give a decision about Antec Neo M and Neo Eco II series. are they tier three or tier two ?
As Antec is a very good name in power supply

You're right. Each experience is different and I probably just got lucky. I actually got a bit worried after reading through this more and was upgrading my computer so I bought a new PSU so the HEC didn't screw something up. Went with an eVGA.

Agreed. Upgraded computer and then upgraded after reading through this more.

Yes and no. Unstressed, a Corsair "CX" or low-end EVGA may be fine. A Logisys or Sunbeam PSU-shaped object, OTOH, that may die because your sister turned on a blow-dryer, smoking attached parts too, is never a safe choice, regardless of load.

How much would I need to spend to get a good quality PSU for gaming rig (6700k GTX 1080). Bought a CX600 which has been fine so far but i don't want to risk it.
