VP500P is FSP's low end and therefore it sucks. Go make a thread about your question.

The VP 550P is made by Delta.

Forton, the vp f series are made by Delta.

As @anort3 said, the OEM is Delta Electronics. You can see the insides here:

There are a few here that are incorrect but for the most part it's good info. I like that they started adding the platform.

And then Orion's database is excellent.

If you can't find it between those resources it's obscure enough to avoid. Or really new.

That, like the PSU tier list, is a hard job. So many new models and vendors coming not to count the various revisions from around the world, such as what version in the US is the EU or AU version etc.

Honestly it is up to people to do the research. The list is a good place to start but it is best if people either ask for help or do some digging. I bought my current PSU, the AX860i, based on the fantastic reviews it got and the Platinum rating. Wasn't a bad choice either since the 7 year warranty got extended retroactively by Corsair to 10 years. Not that I expect it to fail but I did have a recent experience with them on a faulty part and their RMA was easy as hell.

Not much real difference. Unless you are talking Prime Gold series, in which case the Evga has the edge, the Prime Platinum being superior by a decent measure especially when it comes to the fan. So Gold, G3, Plat but all 3 are very similar to the point of really not being that far different in output. As a user, you'd not see any difference, your electric bill is fluid enough you'd never say you'd have saved $1.50 last month with using a Platinum vrs Gold psu, and unless you have extreme OC dialed in perfectly at the highest level OC the cpu can take, it'd not really see any difference either.
Gonna come down to brand loyalty, looks, cabling etc.

No faulty LED on my new Crystal 570X. They literally sent me the entire top I/O panel and cabling without needing me to send the old one back.

Probably the best RMA experience I have had outside of a Dell server, then again you pay a lot for support for Dell servers.

so lets say I wanted to go with tier 2, and buy the Rosewill Quark series. Do you HAVE to get the 1000 watt?
On the big egg, nothing in there says "enhance" on it.
the 750 is on sale right now... is that still tier 2, or does it have to be this 1000 watt monster?

the wut and the wuuuuut?

make a thread and explain your situation and spefications.

It's simple ninja, Op wants the Rosewill Quark that he saw on the tier list, but the only tested unit is the 1000w OEM Enhance. So op is wondering if the 750 that he wants to buy is the same platform/OEM as the 1k unit, since newegg doesn't list the OEM.

And the answer is Yes, the 750 is the same OEM, same platform as the 1000w unit, just lower wattage

Just read the tier 2 under Rosewill:
it says quark 1000 enhance.
What i'm wondering is are all the "quark" PSUs tier 2 or does it HAVE to be the 1000 watt...
and also I do not see this PSU on egg site listed as "enhanced" like it does on the tier list.

Why do you specifically want a Rosewill Quark? There are better units for the same or less money.

The Rosewill Quark is made by a company called Enhance Electronics. The entire lineup. The 550w, 650w and 750w models are based on a common platform. The 850w, 1000w and 1200w models are based on another or at least a revised platform. All made by Enhance Electronics.

Enhance is capable of making very good units but they aren't the first name you think of when you think 'quality'.

Ah okay, so the 750 watt is still tier 2 then. Alright! posted a quick one asking for a recommendation between this and a bitfenix whisper... hopefully you will have an opinion over there.

And also to answer anort3, I want the quirk cuz i've always had good luck with Rosewill.. and its on sale right now. I have a Hive series in here right now but I want to go to fully modular, might as well get a decent one!

To be fair though sometimes the higher wattage PSUs are slightly better due to better components to handle the higher power output. Not enough to care but still.
