Hi
I was thinking about getting a Q6600 G0 stepping but I heard that most of the batches now dont OC well anymore and is a gamble if you buy one. So I was wondering if it will be safer to buy a Q6700 as its also G0 stepping and has a higher multiplier.

Between Q6600 and Q6700 i would go for Q6600 G0 stepping, its strange about what u heard since many users in this forum are happy with it,i myself love it :D i have it @ 3.4 with 1.425 voltage with thermaltake V1 Cooler and i am happy with the way it performs :)

When did you get your Q6600?

And Q9400? I thought the 9 series dont OC well at all, just produces less heat is the only advantage of the 9 series.

Thats right, untill you get to the Q9550, the 45nm quads dont really outperform whats being called the best quad core ever in some circles, the Q6600.

9 series is faster clock for clock so it doesn't need to OC as high as 6 series. Also has SSE4.1.

I really cant afford the 9 series so I guess I will have to risk it and get the Q6600. Hopefully I can at least get it to 3ghz with the Xigmatek S1283.

I just bought my Q6600 in January and it's @3.00Ghz just fine. Don't know when they changed things, but they were great in January. Hope that boosts your confidence.

thats good news.
I am gonna go for the OEM Q6600 G0 stepping version from Scan as its only £136.
Wont be able to order it till 2 or 3 weeks time yet, so I hope its a good batch or they dont run out of the OEM chips.
