To be honest, I think about $200 is all you can reasonably charge for something like this (base model) To me its simply an iPod touch thats too big to fit in your pocket, negating the benefit of not just getting a netbook. Since it lacks the compact size of the touch, and the full featureset of a netbook, it should be less than either... IMO of course.

$200 base model, $300 bells and whistles included...Free with 3G subscription, 2 yr, unlimited data. (its just a big iPhone anyway).

I don't even own a smart phone... I can't justify the expense of a monthly $100-150 flying out the window when I pay for the same service at home. If someone could conclusively tell me what it was for... I could figure out what it is worth to me, but it seems that no one can. Its just an iphone that doesn't fit in your pocket or take calls.

what would billy mays say. oh yeah, 19.99 + shipping and handling, BUT WAIT CALL right now and we'll double the order for free! (just pay separate shipping and handling) hehe.

Why am I answering this question? I am not even suppose to think i need an iPOd

I wouldn't buy one. It's just one of those no-nessesary items. I understand the Iphone because its a smartphone. I understand the iTouch, it is a fancy MP3 player. This is just a GIANT iTouch. Why would you want that? I'd sit it next to the toilet so i can read magazines and surf the web, but can't you do that on a Kindle?

$200 for me if you have to pay for a 3G plan.

Price doesn't matter, it could start at 999.99$ and the same people would buy it for the same reason, they simply obey.

If I was given an iPad, I would sell it in it’s unopened package.

If they remove the monopoly associated with typical apple product, i would probably pay about $150-$200 simply because it has wifi and a big screen to browse the web and watch videos and such... But then again, it is totally useless for me...

based on specs and functionality, the ipad is a device thats below a netbook, and thus is should be priced as such.

most netbooks are in the $200-$250 range. this means that the ipad needs to be cheaper than $200

A netbook is faster, generally offers 160GB + of storage
supports 802.11 b,g,n

has a 10 inch wide screen

has 3+ USB ports
Ethernet jack
VGA output

expandable storage.

Ability to use your choice of OS, including the full mac os

allows you to use evdo to get some 3g going.

all for less than half the price of an ipad.

The only way I can see getting a ipad at the current price is if you are a complete idiot/ apple fanboy that will buy anything shiny with a apple logo on it regardless of price.

499 usd for the 64gb wifi version but not a dime more, and since I live in South America they'll price it at 1000 or 1200 usd just because they can, so I guess I won't be getting one for at least a year.

Between $200-$250. I don't really want 3G, just wifi and decent storage. However, I would never be able to buy it directly from Apple. Morally, I just wouldn't be able to, I would need to buy it from a reseller.

I'd pay $50 for one. Then I'd feel bad for breaking my no-Apple lifestyle.
