This is a ridiculous question that Tom's poses to keep people on their site and generate hits; and has no relevance to anything that is real yet. And apparently it works bc I'm posting now.

Here's the thing...the Move isn't out. And Kinect really hasn't been put thru its paces. It's liking asking what kind of car you want when one doesn't exist on the market, and there are no tests to compare its performance to the competition car...that is also essentially untested. When it gets boiled down you can basically ask a couple questions, a) who has the better technology? and b) who's a fanboy of the respective companies. The first question is somewhat objective. The second one comes down to prejudices, and doesn't really matter as long as people are happy with what they spent their money on. Judging by PS3 sales lately, people aren't terribly happy with their current systems.

[citation][nom]rcmaniac25[/nom]Kinect, I'm a programmer (some time ago I read that MS said it would work on the PC too) and it just seems like it would have a lot more options to work with and could be used for more then just games. The Move controler doesn't seem like it would be as good as the Wiimote, which already has uses outside of games.[/citation]

Since you're a programmer then you should know that to work on a pc (since ps3 controllers use bluetooth) all the move would need is a driver. What uses would the Kinect have that the Move wouldn't with proper driver support?

Neither. If you really care about motion technology, you already own a Wii or even an EyeToy. These other devices aren't going to bring anything new to the table. I doubt Sony and Microsoft have what it takes to match Nintendo's expertise and quality in the casual game sector. And most PS3/360 gamers would rather use a controller. Natal especially will be extremely limited in the type of games you can play. This is just a ploy by both companies to hop on the casual game bandwagon, but it's too little too late. Maybe next generation. But I think given the choice, families would still pick the more family-friendly Nintendo.

Definitely the Kinect.

The Move...come freakin on. It's a glorified Wii remote...even if it has better graphics, is more precise, etc, it is STILL A Wii CLONE. To think anything else is naive. And there's the problem...the motion sensor remotes suck. FPS suck hard core because moving while aiming is difficult. The Move will have Wii type games.

The Kinect, on the other hand, is actually a step forward. Although it is limited in the games, it doesn't require a remote. It also has enough potential to be amazing. It is also cheaper than the Move if you want 2 people to use it, even more cheaper if you want more. Yes, it involves more moving....which is what made the Wii popular! If you don't want to move much then why in the hell do you want a motion remote? So you just sit there lazily in a chair and kinda move your arms around?

Both the Kinect and the Move are not for hard core gamers. They are for the casual/party crowed. I think you will have a hard time convincing anyone who owns a Wii to get a PS3 and the Move. And when it comes down to it, a new customer will get a Wii more than the PS3/Move because of cost and because the Wii is a long established system with a myriad of games. Or they might get a 360/Kinect combo. The point of the motion crap was that it got people together. I think the Kinect has a much better chance of that than the Move.

The Move is about 5 years too late. It's as if Sony said: "You have been enjoying the Wii for 5 years, here's our marginally better copy of it without all the great Nintendo party-type games!!!!" Just look at some of their hyped games: Brunswick Pro Bowling, EyePet, The Shoot, Sorcery, Heroes On The Move, Start The Party!. Wow....rehashes of Wii games for the most part. I would never replace a regular PS3 remote with the Move, and I would like to see the people use the Move remote get there rear ends handed to them in online games.

Oh, I don't own any of the systems although I have played all extensively. I hold no preference to any of them.

Real gamers want real games? Sure they do, and they'll continue to buy them if anyone wants to put up millions to make 'em. This is for the masses with parents and kids looking to have cheap, quality together time. Parents don't want their kids playing GTA IV or any other shooter, for that matter.

M$ and the others know how to mass market stuff and this is exactly what they're doing with this ... frankly, I like FPS's and hate junk like WOW, but I'm a little older and am looking to get some exercise while I game.

For that reason, the Kinect interests me more, but frankly the Wii hasn't caught my fancy the few times I've tried it (through a Dolphin emu and in store) it just gets routine and makes me feel like going outside.

Unless I end up buying an Arcade cheap so I can play Red Dead Redemption I doubt I'll invest in any console and wait until someone sets up a system like this with Bluetooth, which is how Dolphin emulates Wii.

Although I was disappointed by the lack of supportive games, as I hardcore gamer I feel there is far more potential for better gaming experiences with the Move. I see Kinect as more of a gimmick something I'm excited to try but will quickly grow bored of and leave collecting dust somewhere under my T.V. kinda like me Wii =P

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]Neither high end PC is where its at. I have a PS3 but its only for Blu Ray now, cant stand the jaggies in games at 720p. I game at 2560 x 1600 res thanks.[/citation]

Don't you ever get tired of trolling console articles?

Geez somebody kick this guy out already. I'm tired of seeing the crap he posts about his ultra-high resolution gaming experience for pc and the totally sweet pc that he supposedly has. I'm all for high-performance machines, but this guy just doesn't know when to shut up about it. The only thing he knows how to do is bash all things console-related.

In regards to the article, I would have to say neither, but only because of the current information regarding price. I would pick Kinect over Move though, mainly because I find the no-controller option interesting and I don't even have a PS3. It's not like I plan on playing a FPS on either of these new interfaces, so the fact that Kinect does not have a physical controller does not bother me. Kinect is for a different breed of games in my opinion. The Move has the ability to have functionality similar to the Wii.

Anyways, that's my take on it. I would rather see some brand new systems over these new controller interfaces and the new "slim" versions of current systems. I do like how the new 360 looks though, and it's good that they finally have wireless. I guess with the economy the way it is it's not a very smart decision to release a brand new console though...

Still, I would like to see consoles move into the Full HD and Ultra HD realm. That would be kind of a double-edged sword for pc gaming though. On one hand it means the ports coming from the consoles will look even better for pc. On the other it means that possibly more people could switch from pc to console. But I digress, this is all in the future. I'm gonna hope for the best that pc gaming makes a strong comeback, especially when I plan on making an investment in a fairly good system here in a few weeks.

IF i had to choose Id go for Kinect. Yeah Move is a more presice Wiimote and its a known fact. Different input, same output results but Kinect at least even if nothing evolutionary still, an RTS tittle up to even Sony's sweet Heavy Rain would be best plaid on a piece of hardawre like Kinect and people have to face that. Reaching out with your own hands and talking back during the experience can bring it to a whole new dimention.

Pricewise a Kinect will cost up to the rumoured 149$ ( 1-4 users ) when Move will require for a whole single player experience from 130$ up to a whole 340$ for 4 players... Best case for 2 buds in same room will be 210$ and that is IF its 2 Moves and 2 Nav controllers and not a game that requiers 4 Move peripherals ( 2 for each player cause that has been demoed and will happen ) which will cost 150$ for solo and 250% for the 2 players. Once again Sony isn't thinking of the gamer's expences in the first place like they didnt expect the bad sales till the pricedrop//slim release. I dont get why dont they ever learn.

Both their 3D focus and motion controller solution are by far the most expensive strategies of every other current platform holder. Wake up Sony -.-

I need this "Playstation Want" sounds like Sony stepped up there advertising to acually putting the advertisment in the name.

As a concept I prefer kinect much more, but in reality move is most likely going to be better due to its versatility. Each is going to have its pros and cons. Move will most likely have the larger library of games as in different types of games, but only god knows how many of those are going to suck. Kinect will have less game variety, but again how much of those are going to be shovel ware. Kinect will actually be the cheaper solution as it will take multiple sets of the move and nav unit. If I had to choose right now it would be move as it is known that it is much more versatile than Kinect is at the moment. Kinect is a great concept that just needs more time to develop. Either way they're just late responses to Nintendo's Wiimote.

Both are pretty gimmicky but I would choose Move over Kinect for one reason...tracking.

The videos of Kinect showed that it looked as though it had tracking problems. The character jumped all over the place at times. With Move, the camera has a light or IR source to track making for smoother game play...sad to say...like the Wii.

Kinect also seemed to have issues with multiple players (from the videos). If they cross over each other, how does it know which player is which? There was also a bit of lag with the Kinect as well. With current games you need the reaction time to be next to nil. Even a half second lag could make the difference between winning and losing.

The Kinect hasn't been priced yet as far as I know. Where did you get that info from? Last I heard was that it will be revealed at gamescom.

Anyway for me there isn't a choice. The Move can be used for "real" gaming whereas the Kinect can't. We saw this at E3. MS had nothing to offer gaming-wise. I mean the Star Wars game? That would actually have been perfect for Move. I mean think about it. You'd want to feel like you're holding the lightsaber right?

I'm withholding my opinion until some games show what they can do. That said, I'm likely to fall on the Kinect side. The Move already exists and it's called the Nintendo Wii. Sony is just chasing Nintendo's tail, while Microsoft has actually created something new. Even without game support, the Kinect may be worth it for the camera and alternate controls. What's Move got on it's side?

I think that both are looking have decent, but the real question that lays with both platforms is where the F are the decent games. I don't want to play kick-ball or make splashes in a pond ... I want to play full on FPSs or racing games.

Until the games are decent, both will suck.
