Honestly, write less funny articles, and better funny articles. This week articles were just uninspired.

If you throw a joke or two ? Great.

These weekend entertainments are great only if they can be fully understood.

1. Some requires long reading.
2. Some cannot be understood by foreigners without the background knowledge of the west world.
3. Some are not that fun actually.

If there is some really funny ideas, post it. If there is not, just skip it.

I think they are really funny, like a few others, I have been reading toms for 4 or 5 years now, and I have to admit at first i thought they were real articles and was wondering what was happening, but now that they are more regular they always keep me amused on the long weekend when there are no real articles, i especially enjoyed the great article about bing this weekend, but i do understand what people are saying about this being a serious site and the joke articles possibly detracting from the objective and informative reviews and articles, i think a good middle ground is the publish them during the weekend and then remove them from the feed on Monday when a new set of articles are published, then they can be funny but not detract from the authenticity of the site.

Other people said they have other sites to go to for humor, and there are plenty, but I haven't seen much high-tech humor in this style, with such an amazing cross of subject matter knowledge and humor anywhere else.

If I want quality reviews and technology news I go to tomshardware, if I want comedy/false articles I'd be looking somewhere else.
I hold tomshardware in the highest regard and frankly I didn't anticipate that from my favorite website.

[citation][nom]JMcEntegart[/nom]We do write quality articles. We're not talking about replacing the content we already produce with entertainment. Just supplementing the weekends with entertainment.[/citation]

Can the weekends not have normal articles mixed? or just one?

Here's how it goes, if the "funny" keeps coming I'm going to take THG off my RSS list. I don't want comedy in my news feeds. I can get the same information from other websites, Toms has just been my long-time companion and I've never had a reason not to use you guys.

I been coming here since way back when. I've always, ALWAYS wanted more news articles posted on the weekends. I don't mind the fake ones at all since they are clearly marked; however, when you have competing sites such as Engadget, Gizmodo, Ars Technica, etc etc posting relevant content and news on the weekends (sometimes things happen outside the M-F 8am-5pm you boys like so much) you lose readership.

I admit, when I first found Tomshardware, I checked this bad boy like 3-4 times a day. Now? 3-4 times a week simply because there are better, more punctual gadget & tech news sources that get my hourly views. Though, if I want to read a hardware review - I still know this is generally the place to check first.

P.s. Please keep the charts updated, some of those are old as hell.

I really like this stuff! As long as theres no real news to be reported I dont see a problem with it. Keep it up!

Conan O'brien you're not. Stick to tech. Leave funny to the comedians and the Obama administration. We don't come here to weed through false articles.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few comedy pieces occasionally. This Bing/Google one gave me a chuckle. However, after reading through the other comments, I see I am in the minority. Some of your readers bring up valid points: tomshardware used to cover PC tech with greater depth. The articles have suffered a bit lately (since the sale). Reader feedback is a great way to give the people what they want. However, there is danger in letting the inmates run the asylum (so to speak). By catering ONLY to the typical forum poster (16 yr old fanboi gamers who cant spell) you end up with endless reviews about how far you can overclock the same CPUs and GPUs every single month. The old editorial staff seemed to have a better handle on what was newsworthy in the tech world.

[citation][nom]Pei-chen[/nom]Spend the time spell checking and writing coherent sentences instead of this crap. Dilbert is funnier.[/citation]

Exactly. Devoting time to comedy news when you don't have an adequate proofreader is moronic.

Love the comedy stuff, although the ones for this weekend have been really weak. I think most of the complainers saying that they would prefer serious news stories are missing the point that new news doesn't generally get posted on the weekend anyway.

Having a little comedy on the side is okay, but lately it's been spilling over into actual news - and that's a line that shouldn't be crossed. News articles in general have become much more "goofy" lately, and that's what really irks me. I don't mind the comedy articles, but something like this is a bit inappropriate:

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/NEC-Monitor-43-Curved-Price,7984.html

We're all drooling over it, but this should be a serious article, not a worship-page.

And again here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/hitachi-hcfl-ccfl-lcd,7956.html

Those are just a few examples. Silly news is fine every once in a while, but people come to the site for serious news, so let's try to keep the two seperate.

Please stop, or give it its own section.

Just a bullet point missed in with real news is NOT sufficient. Thats the problem, mixing in the fake crap with the real news.

Give it its own humor section and everyone will be happy.

well i come to tom's because I enjoy computer hardware and news so much. I think I would enjoy weekend content that was how to's, computer tips, sets of pictures, best from the forums, or staff systems, etc. Articles such as these are more entertaining to me. I just remember when I first started reading toms and there was crazy content like how to build a projector or what happens when you fill a computer with cooking oil.

It's aight, but I would prefer real news instead of some jokes unless they were really funny.

These may make me crack a smile, but don't make me laugh.

I understand the dilemma of the TomsHardware staff, they have this overwhelming responsibility to reach readers who must range in age from 10-99, how is one website to cater to this wide a range an audience? Fortunately, benchmarking articles and reviews require very little specification towards a particular age range, however, the writers are still aware of all things Internet. And as such, these writers are aware of the hijinks that go on during any particular day via forums or the weekend .gif making comedian. Being that these writers are so aware of all things mischievous (as it pertains to the internet) it is only natural to assume that at least part of a segment of the readers would enjoy some fictional write up in which "Slyfi" is to take on Cisco and Dr. Bennet Dyson is preparing to link up with AMD for an AI contract.

Personally, I really enjoy these articles. I admire the versatility of the writing staff, and if I were in their position, I would probably won't to write something every once and awhile that allowed me to air out. Benchmarks and graphs are tedious, but letting your mind run a creative gauntlet through the fantasies of what Darth Vader would advertise had he been used for product infomercials (perhaps bittorrent? Maybe the snuggie? "hooo AHH...the snuggie keeps me toasty on those cold nights in space between vaporizing my enemies.")

Carry on Toms, keep up the relaxed nature associated with weekends and let us enjoy something that is very seldom seen on websites like yours.

I liked the site better without these articles. To be perfectly honest I don't visit here for onion articles, I visit to learn more about computer hardware and news.

Well after checking over the comments I know the negative comments are going to get rated down until its hidden, but here goes anyway...

April fools is April 1st. If you want to do comedy on a regular basis stick it somewhere else, not in the "real" news feed. I don't care if its clearly marked "foolish" with a bullet. I consider this a serious news website much like CNN or Fox News (more rate downs for mentioning the Evil Fox). People in the marketing department would get fired if this stuff was posted on CNN, even with it clearly marked.

This place was my last safe haven for hardware news presented clearly and with consistent results. This fake news isn't the last straw but your running pretty low.

Really though, see if The Onion would accept these articles. (can't believe I'm the first one to mention them).

[citation][nom]blarneypete[/nom]I find a lot of your articles heavily laced with your opinion, when I think what most people want are just the facts. When you start putting your opinion into your reports is when you stop being a journalist and start being just a commentator. And you lose a whole hell of a lot of credibility when you do that (since you're apparently concerned about that stuff).[/citation]

This QOTD is nothing to do with my articles and this comment section is for discussing the weekend comedy only. If you have a problem, feel free to click on my name and email me directly.
