I Like the funny Toms articles, I think they are what Toms needs.
But what you forgot is the funny pictures to go with it!
Like the onion does. The Onion doesn't just have one small picture with an article. The art is important.
Keep the articles, but if you do, you need to employ artists.

While I really don't mind them since they're marked, I would rather they be discontinued.

It was funny the first time around, and maybe on occasion, but every week? No thanks.

What do I think of the weekend comedy? Keep it. I mean unless someone buys something or suddenly we are all swimming in cheap chips, there isn't any news for the weekend, so the jokes are fun from time to time.

I read Tom's for info not for halfassed jokes, even if the jokes where a little more sophisticated Tom's is simply not the place to publish them. If there are no news, there are no news. I for one will never visit Tom's over the weekend for this type of entertainment.

I strongly dislike the "comedy" articles and urge/beg/plead with tomshardware to stop the practice and never do it again. It is about as desireable as your favourite news channel deciding that they are going to spend their weekends telling jokes rather than reporting news.

Its great to see you guys looking for new ways to innovate and develop the tomshardware asset however this experiment is one you should write up as unsuccessful and move on.

Great work! The added time you're dedicating so that we get some weekend content is really appreciated. Ignore what a lot of the people on here are saying, all they're obsessed about is how Windows 7 is going to be so much better than Leopard and is going to be so original and how well Crysis is going to play on it. Unfortunately they don't seem to realise that if they don't like the joke news articles then they don't actually have to click on them.

It's a waste of time and effort. Like many other people have said, I have websites I only visit when I need a laugh, and I have websites I visit when I'm trying to build a computer. Guess which one this is.

More and more of the articles these days are of the format, "xx was released today. Did you buy one and did you like it?" How is that an article? I come here to see what YOU thought about a new product, not to report on how I bought one and decided it was a waste of money. Besides the fact the 'fake news' articles are rarely funny, I think more time needs to be put into articles with actual content.

The testing Tom's does is great, and those articles are extremely informative and helpful, but they are few and far between on a relative scale. I need a reason to check in everyday and see what's happening, and I don't really have a reason too right now.

Actually after reading a few more comments, I strongly agree with MDillenbeck. There needs to be a section for strictly news and articles with something to report, and a section for opinionated blog-style posts. If you read any real magazine of newspaper, the opinion-style articles are clearly labeled, "OPINION: ..." They aren't mixed in with the real news. And as I said above, it's getting harder and harder to find the real articles and reporting on this site.

All I read was the front page of these comments and I'm totally depressed by the evident lack of humor displayed. I guess you have plenty of volunteers for people to write serious articles of weekend breaking news but it definately takes you one step closed to Corporate Casual. Sorry.

had not read the comments since i don't comment here in QOTD, anyways, i felt these stories are a waste of time for some busy people like me.
yet, i agree with moving this type of stories on another area.

Comedy is fine and great...
To be honest, the stories just aren't that funny...

I come to this site for the tech reviews, tech news, and write ups.
I think you guys should stick to core TH values and dump the joke stories...

Cheers,
W

I simple hate the comedy articles. I don't come looking for comedy, I come to your site for useful computer articles. If some people really like the comedy (I dont know who) then make a seperate section for it, away from the serious stuff so it doesn't get in the way of the valuable information you have to offer.

Definate waste of time.
"weekend comedy" ? mabye the writers need to spend their weekends doing something other than their day job.

It helps that the articles are marked as such - but IMO its a waste of your time to write them and of my time to have to constantly skip over them.
now if you want to start www.tomsspoofware.com - thats a whole different ballgame.

I started frequenting Tom's Hardware back when you guys used to post thorough, highly-technical hardware reviews, comparisons, and tests. Nowadays you've strayed from that considerably, becoming more of a general tech news and reviews site.

However, I still expect to find useful information when I come here. The weekend humor articles are a complete waste of time imho, and they aren't even that funny. After the first batch I've simply been ignoring any articles marked with a bullet.

If I want humor, I don't come here. Tom's should stick with what made them popular in the first place.

Although sometimes you get a good laugh, I come to Toms hardware for hardware updates in technology.

If I wanted to read comedy I'd go to a comedy webpage.

One article I liked for a week-end that i wish you did more of was the stroll down memory lane posts like the c-64 and old cpu chips. They were good light reading for the week-end.
