I just installed Vista about 2 days ago now am trying to OC my x1900 and keep getting an r300 driver not responding error - not only have i never heard of the error; but its driving me insane... anyone know what the problem might be. doesnt matter what speeds i try for OC- any time my video card actually puts any type of serious juice into itself i get the error...

Well, im having a similar problem but much worse.

I have an X1650 pro 256MB with vista home premium and catalyst 7.2, and one of two things happen when I try to use any 3d application which is full windowed (cant get any in windowed).
1. some will crash and show that R300 error thing. the first time it happened, vista said that it had been fixed. But then it happened again.

2. The computer completely crashes, the monitor goes black, and the audio loops for a while. the only way to get out of this is to hold down the power button to turn the computer off.

I am hoping someone has a solution for me to try.. i may try reverting to 7.1 drivers. otherwise, for a few other reasons I think my card is corrupted (a dud card).

this is why I scratched my build of vista for now....

r300 error? the only thing I can closely associate R300 and ATI with is teh Radeon 9700. this is why its smart to not jump to a new OS without it being mature enough to use.
