Since These Cards Consume Such Massive Amounts Of Power, What Would Be The Recommended PSU Output If One Were Using A Highend MB With Lets Say An i7 3960

Liquid cooled video cards do exist. PNY made a GTX 580 with a closed loop GPU / CPU radiator that Tom's used in an mATX project a while back. EVGA makes the Hydro Copper series that run off existing water cooled radiators. There's a 690 variant that Maximum PC used in the 2012 Dream Machine: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/hardware/dream_machine_2012_future_now

If you can afford a $5000 rig you're probably not too concerned about that.

I have to laugh at the framerates at those stupid resolutions, i can't understand how people can play on 2 monitors at those unplayable framerates of 20 and 30fps.. way too low, this is why i still believe 1920 x 1080 is the sweet spot.

Give me a solid 60+FPS and full HD over higher res and slow framerates anyday

Also in this day and age micro stuttering shouldn't even exist.. wtf? might as well just get a high end single card then, rendering resolutions higher than 1920 x 1080 even more useless.

if i am spending $1000 on a graphics card there is a good chance I don't care about how quiet it is and the noise. Do you guys only like Nvidia and Intel? No offence but that card wins and in the previous years if this card was a Nvidia card you would say something like "lower power but who gives a f&&& cause its nvidia!"
Techpowerup seems to be less baised in reviews I think I will only look there from now on.

Thanks guys. I would still like to see 1920x1080 or what ever it is ... for games though... even with these rigs a lot of people still don't upgrade their monitors (for various reasons)...
Thanks again.

My question is, with 4k monitors and TV's hitting the market, How to these cards perform at 4k resolutions on 4k monitors and when will we see single slot video cards that can pull off full screen 4k video and not be slow (Even though we are oooohing and ahhhhhhing over this stuff now, these technically are slow cards) looking at the "big picture".

When I heard the HIS 7970 X2 I started running for the AcK Ack guns, it sounded like kamikaze. The PowerColor's Devil13 HD7990 sounded like I was on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Ronald Regan CNV-76.

Image quality in fact is tested a little and has been talked about. Due to a driver issue, AMD had slightly inferior quality earlier and Tom's told AMD about this. It's since been fixed. I think that you're completely wrong about AMD having superior image quality. I think that the two companies are both extremely similar in image quality right now and that is why image quality is not reported on very often here at Tom's. I can almost guarantee that if they managed to tell the tiny difference with the old driver issue on their own, they'd know if there was a big image quality disparity and wouldn't just sweep it under the rug.

Is it me or Radeon HD 7990 GHz Edition CF is a 1 card with 1 chip and it's as fast as 7970 2x, and it's power consumption is less then GTX 690? the hell with this card = |

Its definitely just you.

1. It's 2 chips on one board.
2. It uses more power.
3. Its just about as fast as 2x HD7970s.

 i saw that comment eariler and decided to ignore it.
