I want to setup a 2 disk NAS box. I don't want to do a raid 0, If one fails its all gone. I also dont want to do a Raid 1, I lose half the space. Is there any option to do a raid with 2 disk and distributed parity. The specs im thinking on are below.
A 4 bay nas is out of my budget. The current setup is priced out at $400.

Synology 2 Bay Nas
2 WD Red 4 TB.

Solution
No,for another raid option would be a 3 disk set-up where you lose the space of 1 disk and use 2 disks to store data, for a 2disk set-up you only can do 0 or 1 for other options you need a minimum 3 disks.
